VETERAN‘S DAY EXCLUSIVE: The Greatest Generation with WWII VETERAN MM2C Anthony Perini, Ep 055

Somewhere along the spectrum of tragedy to triumph, a servicemember may recall their story with vivid memory and great details. With each passing day, these experiences become diluted recollection and seemingly forgotten American history between the pages of a high school textbooks or aired on a rerun of a documentary on television. According to the Veterans Affairs statistics, only 1.5% of the 16 million Americans who served in WW2 are alive in 2021. On today’s Veteran’s Day exclusive, I introduce Mr. Anthony Perini, former Machinist Mate 2nd Class of the United States Navy, who served in the South Pacific during WW2. After an attempt to volunteer for enlistment into the Air Force as a pilot, he was later drafted into the Navy in February of 1943 where he repaired ships including Subchasers, Destroyers, Cruisers, Battleships, and Aircraft Carriers. Today, 98 year old WW2 Veteran Anthony Perini shares his story, as well as his late wife’s time in the Nurse’s Corps, to the world with humbleness and humility.
