To shed light on this topic, we’re joined by Pastor William J. Scott III (@eway_productions on Instagram), Lady Catera Scott (@cee_are on Instagram), and relationship therapist Cheryl Sparks (@banansamich on Instagram).

Through the lens of Hebrews 13:4 and Ecclesiastes 9:9, we’ll discuss honoring the covenant of marriage, embracing God’s design for intimacy, and finding joy even when the reality doesn’t match the dream.

This episode stands as a powerful tribute to the elders who have shaped our lives, communities, and spiritual journeys with their guidance and steadfast faith. Anchored by the scriptures Leviticus 19:32—“Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God”—and Proverbs 16:31—“Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness”—we explore the profound value of honoring those whose life experiences are a wellspring of knowledge.

Our distinguished guests include celebrated fashion designer Charles Kellam and his grandmother, Jacqueline "Mom-Meezy" Kellam, the cherished matriarch of the Kellam family. In the season 2 premiere of Church @ The Bar, we dive deep into a pressing question: Why aren’t young Black couples getting married? In a world where love, commitment, and community are central to many, marriage rates among young Black couples have been on the decline. What’s the root cause of this trend, and how does culture, society, and personal aspirations play a role?

Join hosts as they sit down with a diverse group of thought leaders to unpack this complex topic:

    • Charles Kellum (Instagram: @thehumanmannequin), a forward-thinking fashion designer known for his unique perspective on culture and identity, brings a fresh take on how societal expectations and personal image influence relationships.
    • Sharde Williams (Instagram: @zenmasteress), a yoga instructor and wellness advocate, discusses the importance of mental and emotional alignment in relationships, and how self-love and personal growth can impact one’s decision to marry.

From the influence of pop culture to personal healing and generational shifts, we explore why this issue is more than just a matter of tradition—it’s about identity, autonomy, and the future of Black love.

Tune in to Church @ The Bar for an unfiltered discussion that challenges assumptions, offers new perspectives, and sparks conversation about love, commitment, and marriage in the modern Black experience.

    Dec 11 2023

If your are anywhere online you have most likely heard the term, "Kingdom marriage" or "Twin Flame." These are two very different titles used to describe what is essentially the same thing: an experience with a once in a lifetime love! More than what is described in books and movies, this type of experience is extremely sweet but also extremely bitter at times. If you experience it too early in life, it can be very difficult because absolutely NOTHING else compares!!! This journey is often very difficult to get advice and support about because it is often not a journey that many have traveled. In this episode minister Jamie Knight interviews L. Sweet who shares his experience on this journey. Not considering himself a christian, L. Sweet and minister Jamie do their best to explain this unforgettable spiritual love journey!
