Chapter 2: Burn The Witch

  • Summary

  • As "Harry Potter" becomes an international phenomenon, it coincides with the culture wars of the 1990s. In the backlash from Christians across America, author J.K. Rowling is accused of mainstreaming witchcraft and poisoning children’s minds. Produced by Andy Mills, Matthew Boll, and Megan Phelps-Roper, with special thanks to Candace Mittel Kahn and Emily Yoffe. Thank you!

I’m really enjoying the series so far and it’s a great reminder of the need to challenge our confirmation bias. Thanks JK for being so open about your experiences- your lessons are hard won and important.

Brilliant

Very much enjoying this balanced and obviously unbiased insight into Rowling's work and also hearing some of her own views from her own lips. Looking forward immensely to the remainder of this podcast.

Whose moral panic?

I found this to be good for getting the context of the issues and in the context of what’s going on in Scotland how JK Rowling’s honest take is conflated with a range of other issues around what equality and human rights means for society #IStandWithJKRowling
