Cervical Cancer in Minority Communities

  • Summary

  • January is Cervical Health Awareness month, which means IndyGeneUS AI is taking the initiative to drive health equity by shedding light on the disproportionate effect of cervical cancer on minority communities. Hispanic and Black women have the highest incidence rates of the 14,000 women in the United States diagnosed with cervical cancer yearly. The disease is preventable through a vaccine and screening. For that reason, health professionals have highlighted the importance of early detection- something that many minority communities might not be able to access.

The National Cervical Cancer Coalition actively supports women in coping with cervical cancer and helps spread awareness of their plight. Visit https://www.nccc-online.org/ if you or a loved one needs support or simply wants to help.

Visit https://indygeneus.ai/ to learn more about IndyGeneUS and how they address the health disparities affecting Black communities.
