Uncomfortable reality

In a book club. These episodes were recommended while I wait for everyone to catch up on the latest book I already finished.
I listened to a few episodes and to be honest, this is not sexy in the least when I think of being 17-18 in high school. Sex is a new and exciting thing. First time heart break sucks. The leading girl is quite pathetic. Not as strong as first inferred. The male lead is a psychopath and sex pest. This series is anger inducing. Constant threats of sexual violence, Ali just sitting there while Jase puts his hand around her throat, and domestic situations which could’ve been avoided. If one of my friends or sisters were being treated so badly at such a young age, I know I’d end up doing porridge for the retribution doled out.
The parents are irresponsible and too self involved. The relationship between the two leads is a safeguarding nightmare.
