At about the halfway mark through the season, the Rangers year thus far has been nothing short of a roller coaster- minus the part where we go back up. In what has been the most disappointment I think I've experienced to start a season, the New York Rangers continue to impress by dragging out the stinkfest longer. The Blueshirts have now lost 17 of their last 25 games- a number I cannot stress more, since were no longer talking about a few game skid. Somehow, I see daily comments and mentions from fans defending these players. I can understand it from a human level because this team has brought us a lot of hope, but unfortunately they haven't delivered on that promise.

In another game of one step forward and two steps back, the Rangers enter a really difficult stretch of games before the break and then return for more difficult opponents in a mad dash to save the season. Coming off a win vs the Dallas Stars, the New York Rangers took back to back losses to the Metropolitan Division Hurricanes and Devils who both currently jockey for the Metro lead. The break couldn't have come at a better time though, and should hopefully serve as a little reset for the team. It always seems like the break comes at a point in the season that disrupts our momentum, but this season, it could not have come at a better time!

If last week was rock bottom, then I don't know what to call this. The New York Rangers have won just 3 games in their last 13, a stat that didn't seem possible in the beginning of the season, but is now a concerning reality with a tough stretch of games upcoming. The Metropolitan division isn't doing them any favors either, with just 3 points separating the last playoff spot from the last division spot. To make matters worse, the top half of the division hasn't stopped winning, with the Devils and Caps both reaching 20 wins. What can GM Chris Drury do to right the ship?

With just 2 wins in their last 10 games, tied for worst in the NHL in that span, the New York Rangers are entering into very spooky territory. With their season in limbo, they made a huge move just 25 games into the season by trading their captain, along with his 8 million dollar cap hit. The move seemed to be foreshadowed this offseason, which begs the question why it wasn't done any sooner. Nevertheless, the one positive from this situation is that the team has rid themselves entirely from his lofty contract. Something tells me, based on they way the team has been playing, that Chris Drury is not yet satisfied.

The New York Rangers are in absolute free fall. The team has dropped 6 of their last 7 games, sit barely in a playoff spot, and would be behind teams like the Isles and Blue Jackets if not for their hot start. Despite that start, many fans thought this is exactly what would happen. What is Chris Drury left to do? After essentially bluffing to the world, claiming he was open to making trades, the team has given some of their worst efforts of the season. The core can and should be looked at, however as we tough on in this episode, it's not an ideal trade landscape once you've made it public what you're attempting to do.

The New York Rangers are hurting, but I think the fans are hurting more. In the last week, the vibes have taken a complete nose dive, and Rangers upper management sent out a major flare to the team, essentially promising moves will be made to swap out players. In a game where you would expect a huge bounce back performance, the Blueshirts confirmed what a lot of people were already saying; something has to change. The players implicated? Jacob Trouba and Chris Kreider- two of their current locker room leaders. In fairness, Kreider was absent from tonight's contest, but the former of those two was a traffic cone all game. We chat with Bruins beat reporter Andrew Fantucchio about the start of the young season. The Bruins of course just fired the St. Louis Blues new head coach Jim Montgomery, as both teams attempt to right the ship after slow starts.

After a very ideal start on the west coast road trip, we chat with Kraken Radio play by play announcer Mike Benton to review the game and the young season. With Jonathan Quick's shutout win over Seattle, the Ranger's back-up netminder moves to 22-6-2 lifetime in New York, and boasts his second shutout of the season in back-to-back games. Mike chat's with us from his perspective, as this was a real gut-check game for both teams. From the Kraken's point of view, the New York Rangers represent a good litmus test for any bubble team making a playoff push. On the other hand, the Kraken represent a hungry team that isn't going to make life easy on you. In hindsight, it was a great way to get Quick some reps, and Igor a game vs. Vancouver.
