• S2E4: Keeping your family cottage IN the family - with Dan McMullen
    Jun 25 2024

In this episode we flipped the script and interviewed BTB Co-Host Dan McMullen.

It is certain that a lifestyle advantage of being a teacher is having the summer months off. Many teachers take advantage of this and spend time lakeside at a family cottage.

In this episode, Dan shares how he is helping cottagers navigate the new realities of cottage ownership. Capital gains taxes, property taxes and rising maintenance costs are a real threat to cottage ownership.

Being a Licensed Life Insurance Advisor, Dan explains how he is using cash value life insurance to help cottagers put a legacy plan in place to secure the family cottage for generations to come.

  • S2E3: Adult Children of Seniors
    Jun 4 2024

Lifestyle Design is not only about finances, but also about experiencing a life of freedom by trying to mitigate the unavoidable stresses in our lives. Teachers who are part of the "sandwich generation" are often handling the responsibilities of their children and aging parents.

In this episode, Anuja tells about the ways in which she is working with senior clients and helping them get into the appropriate home.
As adult children of seniors, many teachers face the concerns and fears of their parents aging safely in their homes.

A year ago, Anuja launched Seamless Rightsizing: Full-Service Real Estate Support for Seniors. This service provides senior homeowners and their children a streamlined process for what can feel like a daunting task of moving into a home that meets current and future needs.

In today's episode, she tells us about the services, how she's been helping families and some suggestions for adult children in maintaining a positive relationship with their parents throughout the process.
