  • Why the Oilers are undefeated in 2025

It's Wednesday evening, which means a new episode of Better Lait Than Never has been recorded, edited, and mastered to perfection. It is ready to massage your brain feelings with an hour of Oilers-adjacent discussion.

I kicked off this week's podcast with a random collection of topics from my life, including my first taste of Vikings disappointment, how bad I suck at PS5, a recap of another horrible dating show, and a preview of Dollars for Dogs. As always, the first few minutes of the podcast were all over the map, which is almost a real-time look at how my brain works. I also offered another plea to everyone listening about why they should join us on the Nation Vacation to Vegas, and how waiting too long could mean you miss out.

Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, I started with a quick recap of last night's 4-0 beatdown of the Boston Bruins and how that was one of the most complete games the boys have played all season. Not only did they win that game, but it wasn't ever close, and things could have really gotten out of hand had it not been for Jeremy Swayman. I also touched on some secondary point streaks that have kicked up lately and how important it is for Edmonton's success to have players not named McDavid and Draisaitl contributing regularly.

Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about the Oilers needing to get tougher before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails. The inbox was quiet again for the third consecutive week, but I still got a healthy chuckle from your ideas, feedback, and voicemails. As always, I sat back and laughed while listening to everything that's been on your mind over the last seven days.

  • Leon Draisaitl is a stud, Connor McDavid climbs the Oilers' point ranks, and a Happy New Year!
    Jan 3 2025

I may be a day late with this week's episode of Better Lait Than Never, but I do plan to get the podcast back on track now that the holiday season is over. On this week's show, I discussed the Dollars for Dogs campaign, new Edmonton Oilers line combinations, rumours about the Vancouver Canucks, and a whole lot more.

I kicked off this week's podcast with an update about the Dollars for Dogs campaign after I got a few new bids since I last recorded, which means the pressure is steadily rising now that the per-dog total is rising. I also talked about living out some childhood dreams after buying myself a new toy yesterday, and while I don't usually splurge on electronics all that often, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't having fun so far.

Turning the show toward the Oilers, I finally ended my in-person losing streak after attending the New Year's Eve win over the Utah Hockey Club. If I'm being honest, I was nervous going into Rogers Place on the 31st for two reasons: 1) the boys hadn't won with me in the bar in a while, and 2) the Oilers' record on NYE tends to stink anyway. Fortunately, it all worked out after some key performances by the team's best players.

Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about trade deadline expectations before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails. The inbox was quieter again this week, but I still got a healthy chuckle from your ideas, feedback, and voicemails. As always, I sat back and laughed while listening to everything that's been on your mind over the last seven days.

  • A quick Christmas recap
    Dec 27 2024

It's not a standard Wednesday edition of Better Lait Than Never, but I wanted to put something quick together anyway. If ever there was an episode to skip, it's probably this one, but that doesn't mean we didn't have some fun together anyway.
