  • Summary

  • At a pivotal moment in my life, I realized that comfort had to be compromised at times to make a dream become reality. I reflect on my father's journey - how he came from humble beginnings, met my mother in New Mexico, and started a family. To provide for them, he took on mediocre jobs, but soon realized he needed to do more.

With the help of a friend, my dad pursued becoming an aircraft mechanic, even though it was outside his comfort zone. He prayed for guidance, stuck to his vision, and worked hard, even borrowing a textbook from a classmate because they couldn't afford it. This took grit, fortitude, and courage, but my dad persevered and worked in the industry for over 30 years.

His story taught me the importance of conviction and consistency. Being "steadfast" - resolute, unwavering, and fixed on a goal - is crucial, even when facing challenges. Just as my dad modeled this, we must be steadfast in our faith and in sharing the good news of Christ's love and sacrifice for us.

The scripture in 1 Corinthians 15:58 encourages us to be "steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord." We should not be stagnant, but actively spreading the gospel, knowing our labor is not in vain. God gave His Son for us, and all we must do is believe and turn from our ways.

As I've learned from my father's example, being steadfast teaches us to persevere through life's ups and downs. Others are watching, and we have the opportunity to pass on the good news, just as my dad did for me. So let us be steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding in the Lord's work.
