  • S02E01 - Ella Gibson
    Jun 28 2022

Fresh off her multiple-medal haul in World Cup Paris, we have the pleasure to host Ella Gibson to start off season 2 of Archery on my Mind.

Ella in currently ranked 2nd in the world, is a world and European record holder, European Champion, and has many (many!) medals on the international stage - despite being there for such a relatively short time!

We get to discuss bouncing back from disappointing performances, navigating physical arousal in matches, self-talk during a match, and compound in the Olympics. It's well worth a listen, if only for all the understatements Ella makes every now and then :P

Finally, I do apologize for my voice and for being (even) slower than usual. Covid finally got me, and I am not my usual self. Please be merciful ;)

  • S01E08 Martin Damsbo
    Mar 12 2022

Martin Damsbo is a legend in our sport.
Two decades as an elite archer.
146 matches won on the international circuit.
29 World Cup medals and 1 World Cup Final title.
Dozens of other medals from World and European championships.

He is also one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

In this episode we talk about the secret to maintaining elite performance over two decades, how has archery evolved over that timeframe, lending a bow to an opponent shooting against you for a World Cup gold, Vegas, the transformation from having role models to being a role model, and much more.

  • S01E07 - Amanda Mlinarić
    Mar 3 2022

Amanda Mlinarić is probably one of the nicest archers on the field, but also a fierce and strong competitor you would rather not face in matches! Only 20 years old, but already with an achievement page on the World Archery website that requires a double sided print (check it, it's true!). Amanda is a world record holder, double world youth champion, and has many medals on the European circuit - both junior and senior, target and field archery.

In this episode we discuss succeeding in the highest levels despite feeling nervous in matches, showing up to competition with the intent of breaking a world record, juggling higher education, personal life, and elite archery, being in a long term relationship with a fellow archer, and many more fascinating topics. Enjoy!

  • S01E06 - Lina Björklund
    Feb 6 2022

Every episode I get to interview someone special, but this time I feel that is an understatement. This time the guest is not only a super champion, but is also inspirational beyond belief.

Lina Björklund is a barebow archer who has won basically everything. In her medal cupboard are World Games gold and silver, 3 world championship golds, and many more medals in European and world championships. She achieved all of this in spite of living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Listen to this episode to hear from her what goes through the mind of a champion while shooting for gold on the world stage, the struggle with the symptoms of her condition, having a significant other who is also a world champion in archery, the uniqueness of barebow, and so much more.

    Enjoy!

  • S01E05 - Ryan Tyack
    Jan 23 2022

Ryan Tyack is an Olympic medalist, three time world champion, and has many more achievements in his bag already. On top of that, he is genuinely one of the most fascinating archers one can have a conversation with.

In this episode we talk about career development, compartmentalizing experiences, bouncing back from poor performances, having your parent as your coach, and many more fascinating topics.

Don't miss out on this great episode the way I almost missed out recording it because I am a Muppet who cannot calculate time zone differences properly...

Fresh off a season with two individual medals in two European Senior Championships, many national junior and senior records, and the Tokyo Olympics, we have a fascinating chat about coaching relationships, dealing with hardships, wanting to win everything, and much more.

There are a little bit more blips than usual, and a deleted "that's what she said" joke, but this is a must hear episode. Enjoy!
