Today’s episode is about al-Khalīl ibn Aḥmad al-Farāhīdī, also known as Al-Farahidi, who was an Iraqi philologist, lexicographer, and grammarian born in the 8th century. He is credited with making the first dictionary of the Arabic language, which introduced the now standard harakat (vowel marks in Arabic script) system. He was also the first scholar to subject classical Arabic poetry to a distinctive phonetic analysis.
