Amazing Playthrough of the Enemy Within Campaign
This playthrough podcast has me hooked. The group is a great group of friends that clearly are having an amazing time together. Dan's GM'ing is helping me with my own playthrough as a GM of this campaign. I'm as invested in this group of characters as my own, which is really saying something.
Ben has played quite a few different characters. The only thing they have in common is the life expectancy of a Mayfly. Generally, they are normally dead by the end of the episode. It's a bit like watching a sci fi show where Jeffery Coombes plays a different alien in a red shirt each week and dies by the end of the episode, while the rest of the party shout "oh my god Ben's character has died again, you b******d!"
JB plays Bruno, whose 5' high and 5' wide. Bruno eats pies, lots of pies. If the saying you are what you eat is true, then Bruno will mutate into a pie version of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters. Dan, you need to modify the mutations table to allow that! We also have one of the greatest romance stories between Bruno and his wife Trudie. Listeners can't help but get invested into the "will they get back together?" Plotline. It's on par with Romeo and Juliet, Ross and Rachel, Kirk, and anything with a pulse and a totally inadequate costume budget.
Tim plays Lucky, aka Jerry Crumpet. Contrary to the character sheet his not a witch but a totally legit wizard/doctor with a licence that looks like it's the toy from a McDonalds happy meal. Lucky travels the Empire looking for his dad who works for the Emperor, while asking every woman if they are single in a way that's totally not creepy. His best friend is Griggs, his war duck, that protects him.
Dani plays Mina, a soldier and apprentice witch hunter. Personally, i'm not sure if being a witch hunter is her true calling as she still hasn't worked out Lucky's licence is written in crayon. Mina loves Hello Kitty and tells stories about her Uncle Chet and her childhood. Mina hates eating fish, which I think is very sensible. Mina has also killed a few member of the party (ref Ben's many many characters), sometimes because they were trying to kill her, other times because they said they didn't like Hello Kitty with earshot.
Finally, onto the brains and leader of the party, Griggs the war duck. He detects magic with a quack, speaks at least two languages, and is able to kill quite a few threats to the party with karate chops due to Dan's poor ornithology knowledge. If only the budget allowed Griggs to be voiced by Samuel L Jackson...
Just listen to it, you won't be disappointed.

The podcast that makes you wish you were there.
You know these podcasts with huge budgets and voice actors and fancy light and smoke machines? Yeah, this isn't one of them.
This one is much, much better.
As written on the tin - it is 'Profesional casual', namely bunch of friends having honest fun and making honest mistakes and living with them well. The show is sprinkled with nice editing, casual banter, quick rule analizis on the flow and this special ingredient of personal charm of every player. The jokes are great, character's personal stories are great, role-playing is great.
If you think about starting your own campaign this is a great example to follow.
Honestly there are so many good things that it's hard to write them all down without turning this meager review into an essay.
Disclaimer: they call Dan a bad GM but that's a running joke, he's a great GM, it would be a shame if someone out of the loop would end misguided.

The Best there is! The Best there was and ……
You magnificent, magical bastards! A fantastic, funny and hugely enjoyable comedy drama. It just keeps getting better that keeps me coming back for more.
It is easily the best actual play out there and far more engaging than 99% of audiobooks.
Basically it’s Warhammer crack and these are the best dealers.

A “Bad Ass” GM and a band of Heroes almost as competent as a farmer, a wizard, a smuggler and a Wookie .
These are the adventures of the noble Griggs and his less successful companions set in the grim and perilous Old world (see Nottingham in the 80’s for reference)
This is my favourite podcast full stop. Funnier than off menu and warmer than fake doctors real friends. Yes it is genuinely that good.
How to describe it…. Fun, comedic fantasy improve that hinges on the roll of the dice and the frequent bad decisions of gang.
And to stop the argument
Farmer=Mina
Wizard=Karl (the sensible one)
Smuggler=Lucky (You went into a prison with no plan man)
Wookie= Bruno (because of course)
Princess= Griggs

Phenomenal scenes in a grim and perilous world
I love this podcast a bit too much. I've been a fan of WFRP since my older brother used to take some strange sociopathic glee in torturing my characters back in the day. But I always loved the world and with the "new" 4th edition being released I jumped on board. But it wasn't enough.
In comes Dan, the bad GM and this crazy crew of miscreants to make you laugh, panic and somehow stop breathing. I have literally laughed out loud like a maniac whilst driving, which may or not be safe... "I'm Doctor Lucky... F***". Damn near crashed the car.
In a world where energy prices are going mental, the world is burning, and we're still trying to claw ourselves out of the darkness that took over the world during covid. This is my light. This is my joy. This is what I listen to as I go to work to build myself up for the day and what I listen to when I need to calm down after a difficult day.
Thank you. You have no idea what this means to people and the joy it brings. So, if you are sixk and tired of the world beating you down and want some joy in your life in the form of an actual play WFRP podcast... then this is it.

Laughed so hard it was like the galloping trots.
The adventures of Bruno, Carl, Luck and Mina have been the highlight of my week during our own Grim and Perilous times and I look forward to Thursdays with immense pleasure. My wife is sick of me excitedly announcing the arrival of each episode every week! The characters are played so well and the genuine friendship between the players really shines through in play and makes them all so lovable in their own ways. If I had to pick a favourite it would have to be Lucky as he really embodies the spirit of the WHFRP world with his wet bag, broth and general undamaged optimism.
Being an old Grognard and having played the DOTR campaign on its release it's so special to hear this being played over thirty years later. It's definitely inspired me to get the old gaming group back together and get involved. So thank you for firing back up my enthusiasm for WHFRP and keeping me so entertained for the past year.
On a serious note, Dan I think your are a good GM but please don't kill these people, I've become very attached to all of them and would genuinely be gutted if they didn't make it!
Keep up the great work,
M. Kettlewood

Immersive as hell
So instead of just praising it, I'll tell you what happened to me listening to it a long time ago. (contains slight spoiler)
It happened when out "heroes" were at a fair called the Schaffenfest (baaah) and it was time for the wrestling.
The taunting began and I was very immersed and laughed so hard I missed the train station. No biggie, the next stop is only 30 kms away (20 miles) and trains leave every 30 mins.
Plot twist: I am the train engineer.
The about 150 people who were supposed to get off at forementioned station and now had to wait for the train back weren't impressed.
Keep up the good work.

Toilet listening is a must.
if there is a better way to spend my time with the galloping trots I haven't found it yet. in all seriousness though this podcast is a ray of sunshine on the darkest of days if you aren't left busting up from a lucky, Meena argument or pondering over your life decisions after listening to Carls sage advice to a most likely pie stuffed Bruno. you will be awed by the stoic leadership of griggs ( the real captain). what started off as a way to kill time has become the best parts of my day. From a vet with PTSD in need of a way to escape I send you all the good will I can muster and my deepest, heartfelt thanks. Tim, Alex, JB, Dani and the best worst DM around, Dan, thank you for making so much joy in the world.

Now then!
What can I say about this podcast? Well, the voice acting is incredible, the range of the players and the GM seem to know no bounds! When I listen to each episode, alternately laughing, crying and crying with laughter I feel totally immersed in the Old World and like a small daemon of Chaos riding along on the parties adventures.
These incomparable story-smiths have only got better and better as the show progresses.
Deep love, peace out, King B
