    In episode 133 Sam is joined by filmmaker Robert Eggers, director of The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman.

    His new movie Nosferatu is in UK cinemas from New Year's Day.

    Robert has chosen Dracula (74 mins) from 1931. Directed by Tod Browning, and based on Bram Stoker's novel, the film stars Bela Lugosi, Dwight Frye, Edward Van Sloan, and Helen Chandler.

    Sam and Robert discuss Dracula's theatrical origins, its enduring influence on horror cinema, and Bela Lugosi's star-making performance.

    In this 90 Minutes or Less Spotlight episode directors Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham talk to Sam about the new Aardman film Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (79 minutes). They discuss the inspirations behind the new movie and bringing back the iconic Feathers McGraw.

    Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl stars Ben Whitehead, Peter Kay, Lauren Patel, and Reece Shearsmith. It airs on BBC One on Christmas Day in the UK, and streams globally on Netflix in January.

    In episode 132 Sam is joined by Seb Patrick, writer, journalist, and podcaster. This episode was recorded in April 2020, four months before Seb tragically died at the age of 37. After talking to Seb's family, we've decided to release this episode on the 30th November 2024, on what would have been Seb's 42nd birthday. This is our contribution to 'Seb Patrick's Day', a moment on social media where Seb's friends reminisce, sharing photos and links to his work to celebrate his memory.

    Seb has chosen The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (79 mins). The 2007 documentary feature was directed by Seth Gordon, and follows Steve Wiebe, Billy Mitchell, Walter Day, and Brian Kuh.

    Sam and Seb discuss the colourful cast of characters, Seth Gordon's post-film career in Hollywood, and why there is a Donkey Kong kill screen coming up.

    In episode 131 Sam is joined by returning podguest Tim Anderson, cookbook author & food writer. His new book, Hokkaido: Recipes from the Seas, Fields and Farmlands of Northern Japan, is out now.

    Tim has chosen Ainu Mosir (84 mins). Written and directed by Takeshi Fukunaga, the film was shot on location in Hokkaido and released in 2020. It stars Kanto Shimokura, Debo Akibe, Emi Shimokura, Toko Miura, and Lily Franky.

    Sam and Tim discuss writing and researching his latest book Hokkaido, how the film Ainu Mosir represents the Ainu people, and why you should really visit Upopoy on your trip to Japan.

    Chris has chosen Bambi (70 mins). Released in 1942, the direction was supervised by David D. Hand, and features the voices of Hardie Albright, John Sutherland, and Paula Winslowe.

    Sam and Chris discuss how the Disney animators in the 1940s were pushing the boundaries of what they could achieve and Bambi's influence on The Wild Robot.
