  • 3 & Out - Lamar Jackson and the Ravens topple Justin Herbert and the Chargers in Harbaugh Bowl on MNF
    Nov 26 2024

John dives into another epic Monday Night Football matchup between Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and John Harbaugh’s Baltimore Ravens who defeated Jim Harbaugh’s Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 30-23. Middlekauff tips his cap to both John Harbaugh and Jim Harbaugh, two of the NFL’s premier coaches, and talks about how both head coaches bring passion and energy to their franchises which has led to on-field success in a tough AFC this season. John breaks down Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens chances as legitimate contenders in the NFL, and explains why the AFC North titans offense is the key to them bringing home the Lombardi Trophy. Then, John proceeds to tip his cap to the Harbaugh brothers for being elite talent evaluators, evident by former Ravens DC and current Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald and Los Angeles Chargers DC Jesse Minter, who will interview for NFL head coaching positions this offseason. Next, Middlekauff breaks down Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers, led by star QB Justin Herbert, and the team’s chances to compete in the loaded AFC as Harbaugh continues to build out a contender in Los Angeles, CA. After, John dives into the New York Jets hiring a consulting service to look for a new GM, goes in on the incompetent Chicago Bears front office and breaks down some other action from around the League this past Sunday. Finally, another edition of penthouse/outhouse featuring the Philadelphia Eagles, Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions, the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes, and the port-a-potty New York Giants.

  • 3 & Out - Philadelphia Eagles & Saquon Barkley DOMINATE Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football
    Nov 25 2024

John Middlekauff returns after a loaded slate on this NFL Sunday to recap the Philadelphia Eagles, led by superstar running back Saquon Barkley, dominated Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams by a score of 37-20 on Sunday Night Football. John tips his cap to the Eagles for being one of the most well-run organizations in the entire NFL, and explains why the NFC East’s best team are like a successful business in their “investment strategy” with veteran players like legitimate MVP candidate Saquon Barkley. Middlekauff proceeds to recap some of the action around the League, including yet another massive Detroit Lions team. John explains why the Lions, led by Dan Campbell, Jared Goff and a potent offense, are legitimate Super Bowl contenders sitting atop the NFC. Next, John goes off on why Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are almost underrated by football fans despite their Super Bowl-winning pedigree amidst a historic dynasty. Then, the reason why he’s riding with Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos after the AFC West squad has surprised some fans and critics under their rookie quarterback’s stellar play. John goes on to detail how both the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers, headed for the playoffs, “won” the Russell Wilson trade in the offseason. Next, John can’t help but marvel at the NFC North’s top teams in the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. After, some thoughts around the NFL hitting on Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders, the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers struggling and the hapless New York Giants. Finally, some thoughts on college football’s biggest players including Deion Sanders and Colorado and the debate between SEC football fans and the Indiana Hoosiers football team.

  • Colin Cowherd Podcast - 49ers Need A Reboot, Lions Offense Is Dominant, Bo Nix Surpasses Jayden Daniels, Vikings QB Controversy?
    Nov 25 2024

Colin’s joined by John Middlekauff, host of “3 and Out” to break down the full slate on NFL games.

They start with a sinking 49ers team, why it needs a rebuild (3:15) and debate how they should handle a potential contract extension for quarterback Brock Purdy (6:30). They pivot to the Vikings and discuss whether Minnesota should risk moving on from Sam Darnold, or keep him and trade rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy (10:30). Despite losing in overtime, Colin sees reasons for optimism for Bears fans (16:00)

They break down a crazy ending to Commanders/Cowboys (29:00), why Jayden Daniels has been surpassed by Bo Nix for Offensive Rookie of the Year (31:00) and why Sean Payton deserves a mountain of credit for building the Broncos into a really good football team (34:00).

They weigh in on the Chiefs “experimenting” to try and find what works while still managing to win close games (46:15), and whether the Panthers will give Bryce Young another year under center (50:45). They also explain why the Titans can feel comfortable running it back at quarterback with Will Levis next season (52:15).

They react to a lifeless performance from the Giants against the Bucs, declare the Giants and Jets the two most dysfunctional teams in the league (59:45), and debate whether Brian Daboll will lose his job. Colin calls the Detroit Lions offense the most dominant he’s seen in years and they explain why the Lions would WANT to face the Chiefs in the Super Bowl (01:07:00).

They pivot to college football and recap Ohio State’s dominant win over Indiana (01:20:00) and Oklahoma shutting down Alabama (01:25:00), and debate who’s in and who’s out after some big upsets on Saturday (01:26:00). Colin preaches patience for USC and why with some smart allocation of NIL money the Trojans could be competitive next year (01:27:00).

Finally, they examine the weak incoming crop of college quarterbacks and wonder whether the Jets will be looking to draft a quarterback and move on from a “poorly” aged Aaron Rodgers (01:34:00).
