2:31 The Importance of Conversation with Laura Lyles Reagan

  • Summary

  • Coaches Bonnie Blackstone and Remi Gibbs have a conversation with sociologist, parent and teen relationship coach, and author, Laura Lyles-Reagan about the importance of having conversations with our children and with people in general. There is a parenting movement away from an authoritarian style and into a conscious parenting style. The purpose of the switch is to create humans that can critically think, be able to process their emotions, and believe that they are important. It's focused on having genuine, thought-provoking conversations. The conversations need to be focused on reinforcing that they matter, the emotional content of the day, and affirming love. Genuine questions need to be asked. The parent's role is to honor the gifts and struggles of their children and help them become their best selves. Laura specifies that the most important times for parents to show up for their kids daily are when they first wake up, after school, and before bed.

Imagine if we were having these conversations not only with our children but the people in our lives in general. What a different world it would be.
