About this listen
What valuable company is nobody building? The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won't make a search engine. If you are copying these guys, you aren't learning from them. It's easier to copy a model than to make something new: doing what we already know how to do takes the world from 1 to 10, adding more of something familiar.
"Every new creation goes from zero to one. This book is about how to get there. Peter Thiel has built multiple breakthrough companies, and Zero to One shows how." (Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla)

Critic reviews
"When a risk taker writes a book, read it. In the case of Peter Thiel, read it twice. Or, to be safe, three times. This is a classic." (Nassim Nicholas Taleb, author of The Black Swan)

Good topics, make you think about the future
Very good topics in the book, sometimes goes a bit far (e.g: comparison of founders with Gods and kings).
A lot of companies history examples are used.

An alternative perspective the Lean Startup
If you're looking for a '10 steps to start-up success' book then this probably isn't the one for you. However, if you're looking for a well reasoned alternative perspective on the lean start up movement that's being force fed to entrepreneurs the world over, this is a very good place to start.
Personally, I found the book to be very insightful and thought provoking. Thiel describes his views on business and startups at a pretty high level, occasionally diving into autobiography to illustrate particular concepts, but I've found the real value in this book arises when you take the time to explore the perspectives illustrated for yourself. It's when you pause to consider the implications of what's being said for your industry or business that you really find the lessons.

Good exercise
This isn't a step by step guide on how to run or start a business bit a thinking exercise on some of the problems and psychology that goes with the area of start-ups and how value comes about. This is a good style of book as you cannot refur to one single business for every individual.
