Zar

Anya is kidnapped from Earth, thrown in a cage with Zar, and expected to copulate with him daily or be killed. Zar is psychologically broken beyond measure from the constant barrage of trauma, and life as a gladiatorial slave. Anya manages to coach him out of his depression long enough to converse with him, and their friendship leads to much more.

This is a decent enough story but there are no surprises. I liked how Zar wasn't your typical cocky alpha MC who puffs up his chest all the time. The story is female lead but with POV's from various different characters.

Unfortunately, the narration was poor and hard to hear. The narrator has a very low gravelly voice where it sounds like he's almost whispering. I had to turn the volume all the way up to be able to hear what was being said clearly.

I received a copy of this book for free of my own choosing and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Steamy Sci-fi Romance

Steamy Sci-Fi Romance

Zar, the first book in the Galaxy Gladiators series, is a pretty explicit sci-fi alien romance. This was my first book by Alana Khan, I was pleasantly surprised by her creativity and her descriptive writing. The storyline is engaging with dark and erotic elements, it held my attention from start to end.

The main characters are great, they have depth and inner strength. Zar, the hero, was born in captivity and raised as slaved and became Gladiator and is forced to breed. To survive, he learned to lock his emotions tight. Anya, a human, didn't believe in extraterrestrial life, nevermind being abducted and waking on a slave ship. The being thrown into a cage with a feline humanoid alien and forced to breed. During their captivity, both Anya and Zar learn to open up to each other, lean-to trust, bond, and fall in love.

I thought Zachary Zaba did a great job with the narration and the characters' emotions. Overall, I enjoyed this audiobook, particularly the storyline. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Sensual, emotional and oddly realistic

This is not your average alien smut. It is much much better. Sensual, emotional and oddly realistic in a cruel and as well a beautiful way. Worldbuilding, storytelling and character creation at it´s best.
A really talented author. So talented I suffered listening to bad audio just to have this story read to me. Which never happens. I am the first person to start whining when the audio isn´t perfect. Just ask Audible. The story is so good that at one point I had even convinced myself the narrator was good. Sure sign of hallucinations due to intense need to keep on listening to the story. My first book by this author, am already on the second book in the series. Highly recommend.
