Summary

Not to jinx it or anything, but the stars seem to finally be aligning for Will Cowen. After accepting a dream promotion at one of New York City's most renowned publishing houses and moving in with his oldest friend, he's ready to dive headfirst into this new chapter—that is, until he crosses paths with Graham Austin.

No matter how hard he tries, he can't help but put the wrong foot forward in front of the all-business and inconveniently gorgeous heir to the publishing empire.

So, when a heartbreakingly beautiful manuscript lands on his desk, Will seizes the opportunity for a win.

Will's confidence is obliterated when the author ghosts him at an important publishing event. He finds himself in need of comfort, which comes from the least likely person, the normally cold and distant Graham. This small glimpse behind Graham's icy exterior is the spark that sweeps these two up in an epic and unforeseen romance.

As his author's manuscript begins to take shape, the words that initially brought them together become more and more tangled, making it painfully obvious to Will that despite your best efforts, there is truly no hiding from the past.

But can it be rewritten?

Contains mature themes.

plot

The writing style is gorgeous, how emotions are written in this book, theyre so detailed and fulfilling. When a moment feels long for a character, it feels long for us as the reader too. But as much as i love the writing, the plot and story telling are just terrible. Nothing happens for 80% of the book. Theres almost no conflict to resolve and nothing to look forward to. The last 20% of the book is good, plot twists and whatnot. But getting to that point was a dread and i kept having to force myself to keep going because i had nothing better to do

Feels like two half stories

There are two different stories here. One that starts the book off and never really develops beyond the sufficient. And a second story that the title eludes to. Technically this actually gets started early on but it's not until two thirds through the book that it starts to take off. There is a bit more substance here but again it feels superficial. As someone with personal experience with the subject its pretty disappointing.
The book has a lot of potential and there are several points throughout the book that shows promise but then the story goes in another direction. So there are lots of missed opportunities for a far more interesting story to develop. What's the content of the book? What's the story with Graham's brother? And so on.

Great story

Started off thinking this was just lighthearted funny, romance.. But it was much deeper than that... Really enjoyed it.. And narrator was perfect.. Switched well between characters.. Definitely worth the credit! Look forward to whatever comes next from this Author.

So much more than a romance

I’m not usually a reviewer, so please bear with me (if you’re willing, of course).

When I first picked up this book, I did it blindly. Not even having read the blurb, which isn’t that unusual for me. So, I can’t really say it caught me off guard. However, in a way, it did. I was expecting a romance novel, and it is so, so much more.

I’ve read dozens of books over the last couple of years, and — perhaps unsurprisingly — only a few have acquired an unpaid lease of my mind. ‘You & I, Rewritten’ will stay with me for a very long time, if not forever.

Aside from the beautiful relationship between the two main characters, Pons created a whole cast of characters that carry a host of thoughts and feelings that deeply resonated with me. That said, it’s unlikely that anyone would be surprised by how emotional this book made me. If you’re struggling with invisible wounds, it won’t surprise me in the least if it stays with you as well.

If I had to describe this book to anyone, I would say that it is nothing less than an homage to strength. The strength to love, to accept and be accepted, and — perhaps the most daunting — to heal.

Kai Rubio's interpretation of Will is outstanding. After reading the book, I went back for the audio, and the experience was undoubtedly heightened.
