About this listen

When a glamorous redhead wishes to locate the son she put up for adoption 32 years ago, it seems like easy money for PI Kinsey Millhone. But it becomes apparent this mystery woman has something to hide.

Meanwhile, the widow of Kinsey's old friend, Pete Wolinsky, needs help with her IRS audit. This seemingly innocuous task takes a treacherous turn when Kinsey finds a coded list. It soon leads her to an unhinged man with a catalogue of ruined lives left in his wake.

As Kinsey delves deeper into the investigation, she quickly becomes the next target of this tormentor. But can Kinsey prove her case against him before she becomes the next victim?

Not there best kinsey Mahoney

I love theA,B,C sue grafton books, but this sadly is my least favourite. Maybe it’s the narrator as her voice sounds too old for Kinsey. Was also very long

Classic Sue Grafton - bonus 3 cases in one story

What I like about Sue Grafton is that the stories don't have to have dead bodies, gruesome descriptions or sex to pad them out. This book has PI Kinsey Milhone looking into several goings on in her town of St Theresa that have almost come to her by chance. They are not connected and the general feeling is "the day in the life" of a PI rather than a mystery that requires a maverick detective to sort out. Of course after reading the whole series, the regular characters are all there but even for someone picking up a Sue Grafton for the first time, it won't be a problem as the story is well written . Sorry to finish it. A good read and good narration.

Always good

The big worry is what is going to happen when the alphabet is complete

Yet again from a master of words a great intrigue with the solidness of much loved characters to keep your feet on the ground
Cannot rate it highly enough

Awful Narration

I've tried several times to listen to this, but I just can't. The narrator sounds like a very old lady with loose false teeth. She does sound somewhat like the incomparable Judy Kaye, but much, much older. I pretended it was Judy, which helped a bit, but the story is extremely long-winded and, dare I say, boring? I've read and listened to the ABC series since it's inception and revisit my favourites periodically. I'm frustrated that I can't finish this one. Maybe if I find a recording with another narrator. So sad.
