About this listen
Maulkin and his Eternal buddies are on a roll. They're getting stronger, have two of the shards that will help prevent the return of an evil god, and even have a good idea where to find the rest.
Maybe Maulkin has taken a month off to hang out with his new elven girlfriend and learn how to swing his giant sword around, but hasn't he earned a holiday?
His reluctance to get out there and smack monsters definitely has nothing to do with the evil looking Voidgod powers that he's scared of telling the others about.... Or with Araphel's imminent return.... Or with having to fight a primordial dragon from the dawn of time....
Everything is fine. Shut up.

A fair bit gruffer than the first
Okay, I'm going to open this with a complaint. The story wasn't as good as the first. I try to stay away from spoilers but I have to say that a certain character that other reviews complained about wasn't actually the issue. There are arguments that didn't need to happen, sure. There are also "moral conundrums" that were pretty much just plot filler. On the whole though? Not too far from what I expected. No, my problem is a simpler one. In my honest opinion, there are too many clichés.
It's a bit of a double edged sword, because the whole reason a cliché exists in the first place is because it makes sense, from a plotline perspective. All things considered though, I try not to rate the audiobook based on the merit of the story, but on its enjoyability and ease of listening. In that respect, the narration was exactly as good as the first. Great accents, great characters, and the same level of awesome. Hopefully the third book rounds off the journey with a satisfying conclusion.

Good, fun, character based LitRPG lite
At the time of writing this, there are two books in the series, but it could end with this books and already be one of my favorite series.
The main character is a big doof, but I really enjoy the interaction of the main character and his closest companions.
Combined with a story that keeps moving at a good pace, but with a good cadence of action and reflection, just makes this really fun read.

Darker yet fun
The second book in the series is a bit darker but I really have enjoyed this series thus far. It feels like a lot more happened in this book than the previous. It doesn't feel rushed as much as the pace is set at a break neck speed. This is an epic adventure with great gruesome battles.

mercy was awful.
her anger and self righteousness made no sense. just poor excuse to create some friction and drama. makes you hate a main character for no reason and ruined it.

mercy is a self righteous ball bag
I really really liked this book series, until mercy became such a self righteous piece of shit who should at least die a few times. but the problem is that they try to make mulgin out to be in the wrong, and this just kind of ruins the whole book for me.
