About this listen
Action thriller by the classic adventure writer set in the islands of the Caribbean.
Ferocious Hurricane Mabel is predicted to pass harmlessly amongst the islands of the Caribbean. But David Wyatt has developed a sixth sense about hurricanes. He is convinced that Mabel will change course to strike the island of San Fernandez and its capital, St Pierre. But nobody believes him, and the hurricane is only one of the problems that threaten San Fernandez…

Nice exciting novel
Very good descriptions of power of hurricane, state of the Caribbean island, politics. Performance by the narrator is superb.

Easy read
First read this a long time ago and enjoyed it , and now enjoyed it again. Nothing too complicated a couple of odd touches for 21st century feelings perhaps. At least the female character was good for the time.
Regarding the narration: a couple of real jarring pronunciations, e.g Nobel (as in Nobel prize) pronounced noble, and a couple of other instances. But overall ok.
Find some others of Desmond Bagley to read now. Looking forward to Snow Tiger being released.

Still completely compulsive!
This book has stood the test of time. It is superbly crafted and works on so many levels. Bagley created a human dimension of growth in fascinating characters within a completely believable political backdrop - all compounded by the nail-biting suspense of a potential hurricane. There were a few faux pas in pronunciation, but the narrator still had me completely hooked.
