Good for beginning writers

This is a series of workshops aimed mainly at novice writers, although a more experienced writer can certainly pick up some tips and motivation too. The panel members are experienced authors and editors who know what they're talking about.

The recording consists of a series of six seminars, each about an hour long. The first, 'Writing 101', is a good general overview of all the basics of fiction writing, and is an excellent resource for new writers. This is followed by 'Writing Exciting', a discussion of what makes a story exciting. Third is 'The Writer's Legal Workshop', an overview of legal questions and potential problems that any writer needs to consider. 'Publish or Persist' discusses how to get yourself published. The last two seminars, 'Building Characters' and 'Plotting and Planning', are in-depth discussions of these two vital areas of fiction writing.

Since these are panel discussions, you're bound to find yourself liking and taking more from some participants than others. The workshops were recorded live, with some people participating remotely, so the sound is occasionally less than perfect, but you do get a feel of taking part in a real discussion with knowledgeable experts.

Great but needs an update

I really enjoyed the content of this abandoned it to find something more up to date. They are so behind the times with the discussion about ebooks. This is such an essential part of publishing now that they really should update it.
