About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

NOW THE NO.1 DRAMA IN THE HISTORY OF AppleTV+, SILO.

In a ruined and hostile landscape, in a future few have been unlucky enough to survive, a community exists in a giant underground silo.

Inside, men and women live an enclosed life full of rules and regulations, of secrets and lies.

To live, you must follow the rules. But some don't. These are the dangerous ones; these are the people who dare to hope and dream, and who infect others with their optimism.

Their punishment is simple and deadly. They are allowed outside.

Jules is one of these people. She may well be the last.

All the things I love....

Ticks all the boxes for me, wont go into great detail as there are many reviews already. This is a great story and is very well narrated - the fact that it is a trilogy (which is complete!) is great news cant I really wait to get stuck into 2 & 3 now. Its not a particularly light or happy story at times as you may imagine - Dystopian story with everyone stuck inside a Silo after the apocalypse - it is no surprise than everything is not going to be Rosy! Which to me means its a great book with grubby characters and heroes bashing heads. Has a few clever twists which I did not see coming at all. Also stands up very well as a book on its own without the follow ups if you want to stop here - which I like, there is not a cliff hanging end "mid chapter" so you can either stop here, follow up again later and move on to something else for now or get straight back in again. Margaret Atwood sort of Dystopia - great stuff! Think I am going to have a break as I believe the Narrator changes for book 2 - so it might jar a bit less if I have listen to something else first then get back.... Will pick a short one though between!

Disturbingly believable

Gripping dystopian future, up there with Orwell & Huxley. Pacey and worryingly believable. Starting book 2 immediately.

Captivating read

One of my favourite books. Second time around for these stories. Love a dystopia futuristic novel.

Good work

A great job of writing something unique which is a tough job in itself but this story keeps you wanting to listen to just that bit more before turning it off. Only slightly frustraiting thing is during the 1st part I would just get used to a character only to find they were killed off on the next page.

What a story.

Completely gripping from the start where you feel nothing but fear for Holson & throughout where the compassion you feel for the characters.
loved it.

More narrative, less scene setting

Not a bad yarn. The downside is that most of the first part is concerned with setting the scene at a slow meandering pace, and the second part ends shortly after things get moving. There seemed to be the basis for a rich plot here, but the idea has been overtaken by the minutiae of describing the environment.

Amazing and original

A fantastic and unique tale set in a world both alien and oddly relatable. The characters are the true stars of the show but even the world itself has a magic about it. I would highly recommend this extremely well written book.

Ok, not the best in the genre!

Narrator did a lot better than I could, that said, she still put me to sleep! Will probably listen to the sequels!

Captivating.

Captivating story, just a little slow at times. Good narration. I would recommend it to all who are looking for a story in interesting post-apocalyptic settings.
