About this listen

6,000 years ago, the land is one dark forest. Its people are hunters and gatherers. They know every tree and herb and they know how to survive in a world steeped in enchantment, menace, and powerful magic. Until an ambitious and malignant force conjures up a demon; a demon so evil that it can be contained only in the body of a ferocious bear; a demon so hungry for death that it slays everything it sees; a demon with the potential to destroy the world. Only Torak and his wolf companion can save the world.©2004 Michelle Paver (P)2004 Orion Publishing Group Ltd. Still my favorite bookseries after 10 years!

I started reading this book about 10 years ago, although in my native language Swedish, and now I'm able to hear it in my second language English! It's about my 8th time hearing/reading this book and it's still my favorite book series!

So good

The story is amazing!the reader is amazing!the performance is amazing! It’s so exciting and thrilling, with every chapter it makes you want to read more! I would recommend this to people 9+ only because it is a long book and it does mention animals being killed such as a roe buck (deer) abandoning a little cub, almost death, with little kids would find shocking and cruel,it also mentions deaths.it’s set in Stone Age times probably evolving to the bronzer age.the only thing I didn’t like was sometimes the choice of words,I’m only a 10 year old reading this story, but some adults could also be questioning things as well but other then that it’s all amazing hope it gets turned into a movie or a TV show!

Stunning performance of a mystical story!

I don’t often indulge in fantasy fiction. Despite it being tagged as a children’s book, as an adult in her sixties I thoroughly enjoyed the reading and the way it generated lifelike images 😊
