ToKill or not to Kill - Intelligence or Brutality

Bemused after finding this apparent non-existant episode in Bond's career, I struggled a little with the pace of the plot build, however, the crescendo in the final part made the listing worthwhile. A clever script with more than enough action and scrapes to define Bond's brand, one really setting out the philosophy of why the 'Doubke-O' section is needed as so eloquently spoken when M addressed C in Spectre! An interesting and thought provoking story, and if the outcome had come to pass (I know this is not Frankie Howard) then what sort of Russia would we be witnessing? A yet harder and even less caring regime than Mr P? whatever the truth behind films and stories like Bond, let's hope that firstly Anthony Horowitz keep writing them in order to keep us entertained and using our grey matter and we don't learn of the reality, but remain safeguarded to the best knowledge in MI6!

A.H top writer.

Once I started I couldn't stop.
Horowitz is a good choice to carry the J Bond mantle.

Excellent story fits perfectly into Bond timeline

Horowitz has done a great job here. The story fits really well into the Bond novels timeline that Fleming wrote without creating any awkward continuity issues.

Paced well and written with a style that is reminiscent of Fleming's Bond but with a certain sympathy to modern readers. The action moves along well and captures your imagination but the less active parts are equally engaging.

Rory Kinnear performs this story really well. He adds his own interpretation to the characters without changing them too much.

I'd put this among the best spy novelsz let alone the Bond ones.

Anthony Horowitz has done it again!

I really enjoy AH taking on the role of James Bond author. This is his third book & each has been excellent. It reads like a Fleming book, keeps your attention & wanting to start the next chapter!
Really enjoyed. Well read by Rory Kinnear, nice to get one of the James Bond movie actors to do the audio book.

A great listen

Interesting that this isn’t an Ian Fleming story but it’s still very good and had to finish it in a sniffle sitting

You can never go wrong with a bit of Bond.

I love Bond books, I also love that they have been continued by wonderful modern authors who capture the essence of the Flemming spy. This book was no exception. it kept our car entertained on the journey home from France. We gasped at the end, had it really ended, an uncertain future for our beloved James?

Merciless

The story grips and the pace never slackens. Rory Kinnear delivers it with a befitting dryness that underpins the narrative perfectly. The only thing missing is the sense of fun. All the best Bonds, Horowitz's included, counterbalance the murder and mayhem with a kind of luxury holiday feel - long, sandy beaches, grand hotels and casinos. At other times they stray into the world of adventure and exploration... All these are missing in a story that's grittier and harder than usual, taking Bond and the reader into a nightmare world that , while brilliantly atmospheric remains bleak to the abrupt end.

Another Good Installment

This is the third of 3 continuation novels from Anthony Horowitz. He it does a great job of voicing Fleming’s Bond. In this story he continues the timeline after Man with the Golden Gun and the story involves a Russian conspiracy. Very enjoyable story and well read by Rory Kinear.
