About this listen

Pirateaba returns, bringing you the thrilling fourth instalment of chart-topping LitRPG series The Wandering Inn.

It’s still winter, but everyone’s on the move. Rags the goblin is heading north, seeking allies against the Goblin Lord.

And Erin is going home...or trying to, at least. She’s determined to bring back cheer to The Wandering Inn - as well as Christmas! But the coldest time of the year leads to strange encounters with a number of people.

At the same time, Ryoka Griffin is far from what she would consider to be “home”. Deep in the north, in the city of Invrisil, she finds herself as the guest of Magnolia Reinhart. She must carefully negotiate the good graces of the Deadly Flower of the North. Like Erin, her success depends on friendships made by meetings of coincidence.

Includes the story of Wistram Days, when Ceria and Pisces first meet in the Academy of Mages, Wistram.

Fantastic

Hands down one of the best fantasy series out there. No other series in many years has managed to hit me this much in the feels or had me chuckling with joy. While the genre is known for light entertainment, The Wandering Inn has depth. Lots of it. Narration is also brilliant. Andrea has become one of my most favourite narrators.

Needs more Erin!

This is a good book, don’t get me wrong, but the pacing is a little slower and there’s less of Erin in it. Book 4 is really the second half of Volume 3 - they’ve had to start splitting up the volumes because they’re getting impractically large - with most of the best Erin stuff in the first half, and a lot more of Rags collected in this half. The 7-chapter Wistram Days side story in the middle doesn’t help the pacing, because it takes a while to get going and you just want to read about Erin! (Actually, you can skip those chapters and come back to them at the end if you prefer. There aren’t many spoilers.) It’s all a side effect of the saga being written chapter by chapter as a serial and only later repackaged into books.

Anyway, it’s still good, and the narrator is superb, as always. All hail Andrea Parsneau, who really brings the characters to life!

Best of the series so far!

I really adore this series now. This volume brings together lots of loose ends, makes interesting points about creature nature and the personal histories of some of the characters - I just loved it.
The narrator, too, deserves real credit - she is doing an amazing job filling the words on a page with character and substance through her voice.

A wonderful novel, an incredible narrator!

The story, is a delight, but it is truly brought to life in all it's splendour by Andrea, who remains my very favorite voice actress and narrator.
Enjoy fellow readers and lovers of fantasy, humour, excitement and engaging adventure, enjoy.
