Lucy was born to a single mother who had been abused and neglected for most of her own childhood. Right from the beginning Lucy’s mother couldn’t cope, but it wasn’t until Lucy reached eight years old that she was finally taken into permanent foster care.
By the time Lucy is brought to live with Cathy she is eleven years old and severely distressed after being moved from one foster home to another. Withdrawn, refusing to eat and three years behind in her schooling, it is thought that the damage Lucy has suffered is irreversible.
But Cathy and her two children bond with Lucy quickly, and break through to Lucy in a way no-one else has been able to, finally showing her the loving home she never believed existed. Cathy and Lucy believe they were always destined to be mother and daughter – it just took them a little while to find each other.

Easy reading heavy on the heart!

An excellent book marred by a patchy performance
What did you like most about Will You Love Me??
"Will You Love Me?" is one of many Cathy Glass audiobooks I have listened to and enjoyed and I have to say that this is one of the best. The story is particularly moving as Cathy and Lucy become especially close
What did you like best about this story?
SPOILER ALERT: Cathy eventually adopts Lucy, which is lovely and makes this the best and most emotional of her memoirs in my opinion
Which scene did you most enjoy?
SPOILER ALERT: Near the end of the book - when Lucy is at last allowed to become a permanent member of Cathy's family.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Both! This is an emotional roller-coaster of a book and not for the faint hearted!
Any additional comments?
The book is excellent but for some reason, the narrator (who is usually excellent) kept veering in and out of a Brummie accent, which she has never used for these characters before and doesn't keep up throughout the book. That said, this should definitely not dissuade anyone from this audiobook.

Loved this book just like the previous one I listened to. Love that you don’t need to read them in order so I can just buy them when they are on offer

Will you love me
So glad Cathy wrote Lucy's story & what a tragic beginning Lucy had, social workers not believing little Lucy was discusting to think this happened all these years ago & it is still happening today. Mother's & father's still pulling the wool over social workers eye's, children not being believed or listened too. So glad Cathy had the patience & to see what a wonderful child Lucy was & still is

A truly wonderful ‘happy ever after’
I think this is the first book that has made me cry with both tears of despair and then joy. As with the last Cathy Glass book I was gripped from the first page to the last. It is both interesting to here protocols for Social Services, Foster Parents and the Police. It’s easy to hate the parents of an abused child but this story shows, it’s not always straightforward and even a bad parent can make a good decision that will give their child the life they deserve. I felt for Bonnie and hope she found some happiness herself. Lucy now has the awesome Family she deserves. Well written and beautifully narrated too.

I feel I know cathy..
I learn alot from Cathys Books and I love listening to Cathys books and the Narrators voice is like a wrap around hug.

Why does this reader use such stupid accents.
The woman reading this, ruins it. Using accents that she is rubbish at. Use your own voice and use full stops, punctuation to use another person!

beautiful
beautiful story. whilst Cathy's books do follow a same/same narrative with things explained in each very similarly. This is to be expected and once you get that then the individual stories are nearly always gripping. Lucy's adoption story was particularly poignant
