About this listen
A sinfully hot enemies to lovers romance, about a seductive, a-hole (anti)hero on the brink of self-destruction and the quirky, kind-hearted heroine who discovers his darkest secret—and his heart.
I knew it was a mistake to kiss my best friend’s brother—especially behind my boyfriend’s back.
In my defense, I had a crush on Johnny for years.
But that was before I realized how much I hated him.
Now, thanks to the object of my hate crush, I’ve lost my relationship, my dream job, and my home.
Johnny has no idea it’s mostly his fault that my life has imploded, but the man is a dumpster fire of depravity and I really should’ve known better.
He’s an arrogant rock star, with the body of Adonis and the soul of Hades.
A coldhearted jerk who doesn’t seem to care who he hurts on his climb to the top.
But he’s also on the verge of career meltdown.
When his dirty deeds start catching up with him—and threatening his precious career—he offers me a job that I literally can’t afford to turn down.
As it turns out, it’s not so easy to hate on someone who walks around half-naked all the time looking like my hottest fantasy.
Worse, the more time we spend together… I realize there’s a lot more to my best friend’s brother than meets the eye.
Including a terrible, heartrending secret.
Despite everything, my heart aches for him.
I know I might be his last chance to make amends for the pain he’s caused.
I know we could help each other get our lives back on track.
But Johnny’s hurt me, too. How can I trust him not to do it again?

Angeline and Johnny!
After her boyfriend ends their relationship Angeline finds herself with no job and no home while she tries to determine the next step in her life. She now finds herself living with her best friend which brings its own set of complications as she tries not to disappoint her friend by getting involved with Johnny. She knows that he is off limits but that doesn’t stop the feelings she has for him especially when they begin working together.
Johnny is a famous rockstar who has embraced everything that goes along with being a celebrity but that is only a façade for what he is determined to keep hidden. He needs help to improve his image so he hires Angeline but as they spend time together he is finding it difficult to keep his distance which becomes problematic for multiple reasons.
This story allows us to see who Johnny truly is and why he is that way. There is no denying the chemistry and connection between them as he and Angeline take us on quite the journey filled with so many feels. The narrators were a great choice for the characters and had you invested in the story and their journey.

A decent listen but something missing.
I have read or listened to all the previous books and enjoyed most of them. This however was a bit up and down and I felt something was missing.
I liked both characters. Angeline (Elle from Dirty’s younger sister) is sweet and optimistic, but has dark desires. Johnny (Amber, johnnie’s ex wife who is now married to Dylan from Dirty) has been a bit part player in previous books, often the bad decision by some of the previous female characters. In this though we get to dig under the surface to see more of him, and ultimately why he behaves the way he does. The sex is 🔥🔥🌶️🌶️🌶️ and really well written. I love how Angeline owns her cravings and how Johnnie is basically up for meeting them on any level.
This is quite a slow burn for about 50% of the book and at times I found it a bit slow and boring. There was a bit too much introspection from Angeline at times and it dragged. Johnnie is quite one dimensional to begin with, which is fine as I think that is how it’s meant to be given the stuff that comes out later, but it makes the first half of the book a bit dull if I’m honest.
The second half of the book is much better as we get to know more about Johnnie and his history, and as Angeline comes out from under her sister’s shadow and becomes her own person willing to put herself out there in every regard.
There was however something missing for me from the story. It all seemed a bit easy, a bit “fan fiction”, and there didn’t seem to be as much drama as I thought there might be. Suddenly Johnnie was a different person, a better man, once he had told Angeline about his past. All seemed a bit quick.
I loved snippets of previous characters as they came in and out of Angeline and Johnnie’s lives.
This is definitely worth a read/listen, particularly if you’ve read other Dirty Universe books. You don’t need to have done, but the interactions with others will make more sense if you have.

Loved this narration
I read this when it came out and it was so good to be able to revisit this and enjoy it in a different format. The narrators were spot on and really brought the characters to life for me. Once again I felt like Angie started out quite immature but she eventually grew into her own and Jonny is so beautifully broken he finally makes sense. A great experience of a great book

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK!
WOW! You go girl! Jaine Diamond hits it out the park with this one in my opinion. Wicked Angel Vancity Villains No3.
I fell in love with Johnny from the off, I think this was due to being captivated with how Jaine describe him and realising there's more to Johnny than the bad boy image he portrays.
I'm not going to say anymore about what goes on in the actual book as you can read that in the synopsis or other reviews.
What I will say is Wicked Angel is a moving story which had me laughing, crying and sighing either with frustration with one of the characters actions or with the kind of sigh when things are going right. But I'm not saying what order that list of emotions comes in.
This is just my opinion but I strongly recommend you grab your copy relax and listen for 17hrs and 59mins to No3 in The Vancity Viliains Wicked Angel by Jaine Diamond. ENJOY!
