Summary

When he turned 69, Joel Gottfried received a DNA kit as a birthday present from his sister. What seemed like a routine cheek swab to help in his work as the family genealogist turned into a shocking discovery. The results showed he didn't know who his biological father was. With his identity up in the air he began the journey to find out who his father was and the hidden circumstances behind his conception. 

Filled with twists and turns and a very surprising discovery along the way this is a modern-day DNA detective mystery. The storytelling is filled with insights into the meaning of family and fatherhood. Along the way, you get to meet both of his families and understand the age-old tug between nature and nurture. 

Told with a sense of humor and a self-deprecating style that belies the importance of the issue facing him, Gottfried takes us along with him through the numerous setbacks and ultimate success.
