A good long listen, good to have on while doing chores. Excellent narration, though one character had a very abrasive voice (there were lots of female characters so I understand that the narrator had to distinguish them somehow). Overall pretty good.

I love the Australian crime genre but this series, ( I have read one other in the series) and this book in particular, are average to say the least. None of the characters here are fully fleshed out, there is a cardboard quality to all of them. The long monologues where one subject is beaten to death, the long forced explanation from the detective at the denoument, the various names that sound similar - "Raine" and Dana, Mila and Milo - are just irritating. There was a flash of real inspiration when the video of the character Mila being attacked by thugs entered the plot but nothing else really grabbed the attention. There are many more female characters than male so I wonder if the writer is just not very good at writing women.
I also found the narrator to have a harsh voice and a couple of her characters' voices were gratingly awful.
This was a waste of a credit for me.
