Summary
A burned-out pop star stranded in small-town Kentucky can't help falling for her unlikely knight in shining armour—the notoriously grumpy owner of the local pie shop—in this charming slice of romance from the author of the TikTok sensation The Cheat Sheet.
Rome is where the heart is.
Amelia Rose is burned-out from years of maintaining her public image as pop princess Rae Rose. Inspired by her favourite Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday, she drives off in the middle of the night for a break in Rome...Rome, Kentucky, that is.
Running the pie shop his grandmother left him, Noah Walker is busy enough as it is. But after finding Amelia on his front lawn in her broken-down car, he decides to let her stay in his guest room—on a very temporary basis, of course.
As the two of them grow closer, Noah starts to see a new side to Amelia—kind-hearted and goofy, yet lonely from years in the public eye. Amelia may have to go back to her other life someday, but for now she's perfectly happy falling in love with the cozy small town she's found herself in...and her grumpy tour guide isn't half-bad either.

"My Audrey Hepburn loving heart is so happy! When in Rome is a delectable romance, sweet and satisfying as a slice of warm apple pie." (Chloe Liese)
"Sarah Adams' books are woven with pure sunshine and rainbows.... It's everything you could want in a small-town romance, along with a heaping dollop of her signature wit and sparkling charm." (Amy Lea)

When one of them is famous
I liked this book, I’ve adored almost every book I’ve read by Sarah Adams. Although the plot was quite predictable, but it didn’t affect my experience all that much.
I absolutely adored so many off the side characters as well. And I liked how Amelia wasn’t written as a “dumb, spoilt celebrity”.
Overall I liked it, 4/5 ⭐️

Fun Romance
This was romance was a good fun and worked really well as an audiobook. The story was told by both Amelia and Noah, narrated brilliantly by Karissa Vacker and Andrew Eiden. I really liked Amelia and Noah, they were both lovely characters, even though Noah could be very grumpy. I loved the banter between the two of them, especially with all the different nicknames Amelia came up with for Noah. There was great character development throughout the story, with some big reveals, one of which I guessed really early on, but it didn’t spoil the story for me. The romance was good, but it did annoy me at times, with all the inner dialogue about neither of them wanting a relationship because Amelia was going to leave. It got a repetitive which was a bit frustrating with an audiobook, as I didn’t want to fast forward in case I missed something important. Over all it was good fun so perfect for anyone looking for a fun romance on audio.

Swoon worthy romance
Perfect swoon worthy romance, slow burn, clean. Love the performances by these actors! It was such a great listen while on my way to and from work this week. Loved the in-depth description of emotions.

A great cozy comforting listen
I instantly fell in love with this book, I love Sarah's writing style and how warm and comforting it is. If anyone's looking for a book to read this autumn whilst snuggled up under a blanket with a hot chocolate, this is the perfect book for that!
It was so cute and I loved all the nicknames Amelia had for Noah, and loved the relationship that Noah had with his family and can't wait for their books and learn more about his sisters

Slow burning romance
Part way through I realised it was not my kind of book. But I hate to give up so I persisted.
The performances were good. The writing was good. The storyline was predictable.
And for me there was way too much time describing Noah’s body; it was used like filler between plots. But others may like that more than I.
Having said that, I did eventually warm to the characters, and I was content that there was a happy ending. Its what I would classify as a beach/flight read where you can pick up and put down without losing much of the content.

*Adorable*
This is book one in the ‘When in Rome Series’
What happens when a pop star at the end of her tether starts to feel hemmed in. Her life is mapped out within an inch and she has no control. That is what happens to Amelia Rose aka her stage name Rae Rose. Her imaginary bff is Audrey Hepburn and I found it quite sad that she had no one close to her. So Audrey is the one she relies on for fashion tips, you name it. Her favourite film is Roman Holiday.
As she is no longer close to her Mother she craves to get away. So she jumps in her car and heads for Rome, Kentucky. On her quest to get some space her car ends up broken down and straight into the front driveway of a grumpy Noah Walker who has had his heart broken into a million pieces and has no time for relationships.
This book had me laughing out loud and I had tears in my eyes as we see how Noah tries to go out of his way to avoid her. The characters in this small town are hilarious and they get right up in your business and there are moments when Noah’s private life is discussed right in front of him lol.
I could just eat this book up for the emotions it stirs up and I just loved seeing Amelia grow and fight for herself and how the town supports her a far cry from what she is used to. Also Noah the king of distancing himself very gently may just be brave enough to let his guard down. His sisters are a hoot.
