About this listen

Have you wondered if God really cares about your life? Have you asked yourself, “Does he really love me?"

You can rest assured, God does love you, and he thinks about you all of the time. In fact, he is captivated by the thought of you, and desires to be intimately involved in your life.

In When God Chose a Father, you’ll see the great love and care God took in choosing the man to be the earthly father of his son. He took that same love and care in helping Joseph to be the father he required for Jesus, intimately involved in guiding him through life to help him accomplish the task that had been asked of him.

As you listen about the traits that made Joseph a man that would catch God’s eye, you’ll understand the godly traits that God is wanting to cultivate in you, and the results that come from them. You’ll see the real-world issues that Joseph and Mary faced as they took on the responsibility of being Jesus’ parents, and how God was with them every step of the way. God didn’t leave them alone once Jesus was born–his presence and power were with them to help them in life, and he desires to do the same for you.

You and I are not alone. God is willing and ready to be as much a part of our lives as we’ll allow him to be. Nothing is too small, or too large. He gave a part of himself in the form of a newborn baby in order to bring us back into relationship with him. He chose the parents for that child, and then moved in their lives to help them be the parents he had called them to be. He chose parents who would listen to his voice and seek after him with their hearts. Those are both things that you and I can do. When we do those things, we can look to him to be with us and help us.

When God Chose a Father isn’t just the story of Joseph, it is a look into the person that God chose for a critical part of his plan, understanding that he wasn’t perfect. You aren’t perfect, and neither am I, but just like Joseph, we can be used in wonderful ways by God. He isn’t looking to us for perfection–he’s looking in us to find hearts that are willing to live according to his ways and trust him. Within this book, you will find answers to questions, reason for hope, and practical wisdom to help you get to the place God has for you in him.
