About this listen
HOW I LIVE NOW meets HIS DARK MATERIALS in this stunningly written and intensely moving debut, the first book in the Hybrid trilogy.
Imagine that you have two minds, sharing one body. You and your other self are closer than twins, better than friends. You have known each other forever.
Then imagine that people like you are hated and feared. That the government want to hunt you down and tear out your second soul, separating you from the person you love most in the world.
Now meet Eva and Addie.
They don’t have to imagine.

Interesting story
The story itself is interesting. The reading was a bit odd for my taste at some points.

Very interesting
First of all, the narrator does a fantastic job of playing the hybrid characters in a believable way - similar enough and yet distinct from each other. A challenge to any actor.
The overall premise and story are very interesting, although can feel about clunky in places. I had to relisten to certain parts on more than one occasion as too many key plot points were given at once. Having read the physical copy of the book many years ago, I do feel this is a story that works best as a performance rather than a written novel.
