About this listen

Cilla Black is without doubt one of Britain's most treasured personalities. Generations have grown up with Cilla's music, TV shows, and performances. But how much do we really know about "the girl with the bright red hair and the jet black voice"?

What's It All About? is Cilla's own story, told for the first time ever. It is the story of a woman who has worked ceaselessly to stay at the top for forty years despite setbacks and personal tragedy; a life of incredible highs and terrible lows. In this deeply personal autobiography she tells her unique story in intimate and vivid detail for the very first time. This is the real Cilla Black.

WONDERFUL. Loved it, such an easy listen from start to finish! Cilla has faced many challenges in her personal life, but has kept going to ensure she never let anyone down.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Cilla's love for life shines through this book. I really enjoyed her narrative of her fascinating life in the Liverpool music scene in the sixties, through to breaking into television and then out of it. She talks of her career, family and many friends and of course the heartbreak of losing Bobby. Through all her success she comes across exactly as she appeared, totally down to earth and appreciative of all she had. So sad she is no longer with us. RIP Cilla.

A bit disappointed

I really like Cilla Black and loved the three part series that was shown on TV, which I believed was based upon this book. On the TV show, she was shown as a warm down to earth person and that had also been my impression of her, when seeing her on TV as herself.
I don’t know if it was because this book was abridged, but whilst that was true in places. Cilla came across as being somewhat self centred and had a bit of a high opinion of herself and her abilities . Having said that, I did still enjoy the book and it was lovely hearing Cilla read it as well.

Lovely story

What a lovely listen. I couldn’t pause this book ,such a sad story. Cilla and Bobby had the perfect balance in life but it wasn’t without it’s sad times the loss of there babies & loss of good friends. I learned a lot from listening to this including how hard the critics were about a lot of Cilla’s shows but the viewing figures said it all. Cilla gave us amazing tv viewing on a Saturday/Sunday night and will never be forgotten RIP Cilla & Bobby.

Cilla, where were you?

So sorry, loved Cilla but this was read by a very deadpan lady, not the bubbly Cilla I knew, I returned it couldn’t continue

Lovely to hear her voice again

Lovely little autobiography, of Cilla Upto 60. She enjoyed fame and fortune....but worked hard at it too, and was not without her share of troubles,. Loved seeing her in Liverpool as a kid. She really was someone you thought you knew. RIP
