About this listen

On the Road to Success with the Mastermind Behind Eight Tour de France Victories

Johan Bruyneel knows what it takes to win. In 1998, this calculating Belgian and former professional cyclist looked Lance Armstrong in the eye and said, "Look, if were going to ride the Tour, we might as well win." In that powerful phrase, a dynasty was born.

We Might As Well Win takes listeners behind the scenes and inside the team car, as Bruyneel reveals the planning, training, strategy, and tactics that led to a record seven Tour de France victories with Armstrong and an eighth with Alberto Contador.

Through thrilling stories of his own racing career and those of the cyclists he has guided during his extraordinary career, Bruyneel reveals the keys to victory both in cycling and in life.

Excellent content let down by narrator

Johan has had such an incredible career, great success as a DS and phenomenal insight as a tactician when it comes to racing, so I was really looking forward to listening. The content was just as good as expected but unfortunately the narrating and poor pronunciation of race titles, climbs and cyclists names really ruined my enjoyment.

A Great Insight

Great stories and a great overall message. This is the best book of this kind (motivation) I've read in a while.

I coach athletes myself and have used several of the messages contained in this book.

Brilliant book.

I found this to be a fascinating and brilliantly written book.

Due to being written before the reality of doping in the US Postal team came to light and there is a definitely a certain irony to parts of the message.

Despite this the message of the book shines through and is brought to life with lots of stories and anecdotes that achieve exactly what the author intends rather than being merely filler.

I would say for cycling fans this is a must listen.

I very much wish Johan Bruyneel had written more than this one book.

Inspiring read

Excellent book, I'm reading a lot of salty reviews here by people who think lance and co were the only drug users in the sport. Fascinating insight into the mindset and artform of great champions.

Inspiring and for a non cyclist, educational and interesting. Including details of the sport that I never knew but may be tedious for someone who closely follows the sport.

Win... Win... Win... Inspirational!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed JB's story of success... failure and again success... this is the best sports biography currently available on Audible. All the effort that JB put into the US Postal Team has been replicated in this truly inspiring book... it is evident why he has been so successful. The Narrator can sometimes be a little over dramatic but it did make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up in excitement and awe.

I listened to the book prior to the 2011 TdeF and it made the three week experience all the more enjoyable and provided a detailed insight into the suffering and commitment required to achieve within the top 1% of the top 1% of professional cycling!!!

A work of fiction

Given recent revelations around Johans alleged involvment in Lance Armstrong's doping there is a good chance a lot of important information may be lacking from this book !

Fiction & Fantasy

Truth is out now , hope they decide to change the title to We knew we would win . With hindsight we all regret having bought this audible book and even half believing what was written, then again we probably all thought we were inspired by Lance's book

Pure FICTION , would like a credit back for being duped
