About this listen
What defines a Faithful? Do the angels earn their halos from the Kingdom of Heaven through obedience alone? Or do they strive to employ sound judgment and moral strength?
Ilthaliel was created as a seraph but his friendship with the cherubic general Melphax the Strong, known amongst his peers as the Pillar of Iron, brought him out of the comfort zone of his stately choir and introduced him to the rigors and philosophies of Zion’s warrior caste. A pensive gangly angel, at first glance Ilthaliel embodied all that was gallant and smart about Archangel Gabriel’s choir of messengers. Yet he found himself drawn like a moth to a flame to the likes of Melphax and the venerable cherub Ural.
From the angelic host’s Empyreal birth to the fall of the Western Empire and the founding of the Eastern Kingdom, Ilthaliel’s friendship with Melphax is a journey of the heart, mind, and soul. Laden with theological dialectics, harrowing adventures, and brutal combat, Ilthaliel will learn what it means to be a Son of God bearing the mantle of a halo’s holy will. Will he remain loyal to his Archon’s choir? Or will he spread his wings and fly under the aegis of Melphax’s covert experiment, an elite legion of operatives known as the Smoke Column?
Ilthaliel’s story transits Realms of Creation, Heaven and Hell, and spans the ages in his search for that answer which beckons all believers: Is it better to be a mystic or a scholar? Across continents and millennia, filled strange wonders never before imagined, the War for Souls will usher in a savage garden which forces the righteous to bear holy fruit or reap a hellish harvest. Along the way, the Faithful seraph Ilthaliel will become embroiled in a struggle with Fallen gods, standing in the gap for humanity, and putting it all on the line for the sake of duty.
Told in the aftermath of a great cataclysm, Wayfarers is one angel’s memoir of the dark night of the soul, a quest to face faith’s unbelief and spit the lukewarm from sacred mouths.
