Critic reviews

An excellent detective novel. The opening scene is superb, and sets up the story beautifully. Gripping, multi-layered and fresh. Terrific (Will Dean, author of Dark Pines)
A brilliant premise, perfectly executed. A genuine page turner - it kept me guessing right until the end. (Chris Hammer, bestselling author of Scrublands)
A riveting new book, with such vivid characters (Holly Watt, author of To the Lions)

Not as good as "She lies in wait"

I really enjoyed the last book by this author and found the different character perspectives easy to listen to and intriguing. I did not feel the same about this book. The "police" chapters narrated by Hopkins were all fantastic, as was the story. As for the "Zoe" chapters I found both the storyline and narration difficult to get through; in fact, I just skipped past them in the end and was still able to follow the story in an enjoyable fashion. The language used in the other chapters was just over-flowery and I found myself listening to detailed descriptions of scenery that were not relevant in any way.

If you like the author, then give this a try and you might feel differently to me.

Great story - poor quality recording

Another great story by Gytha Lodge. Well narrated although the quality of John Hopkins’ recording was poor.

Took me ages

The voices are so boring I kept falling asleep to this book

Story is predictable really if you think about it. It’s an ok book but defo not the best I’ve listened to , I’d recommend getting this if you want a good nights sleep lol!

Gripping twists!

I love the way Gytha Lodge’s books give you little hints that make you think you’ve figured it out, but there’s always more. By the time you reach the conclusion, you’ve been taken on such a journey, it’s hard to remember all your suspicions along the way. Compelling! Brilliant! Can’t wait to read the next one!

Love and Marriage....

A brilliant traditional and quintessential British police procedural and intriguing whodunit.

A simple plot but with the pace and charisma of a great murder mystery.

It gives a completely new view on marriage following the disgusting control of the main suspect and character the manipulative philanthropist Adrian. Full of twists and turns it’s a great read.

The ending... wow

Brilliant read.

Can’t wait for the next in the series

The narration was great...John Hopkins struck a perfect, often intimate note. Let’s see more from him and of course by Gytha Lodge.
