Summary
Best-selling author Karen Rose is back with her 15th pulse-pounding thriller.
Unforgettable. Stevie Mazzetti knew she would never get over the murder of her husband and son. But with their killer behind bars, she was able to move on with her life, if only for her daughter's sake.
Unimaginable. Now, eight years later, the Baltimore detective always fights for the victims she meets and when she learns that her ex-partner may have miscarried justice, Stevie's determined to right the wrong, even if it means she is in danger.
Undeniable. Clay Maynard has always wanted Stevie and when she is targeted by a vicious psychopath, he believes that protecting her may give him the chance to have her in his life forever. Clay will do anything to keep Stevie safe but with a killer on her tail who has everything to lose and a secret to hide, will they stay alive long enough to find happiness?

Good story, too drawn out.
What did you like most about Watch Your Back?
Interesting story, with a mix of suspense and romantic interludes. I was keen to know what was going to happen next. Some of the plot was quite predictable, and some bits seemed rather far-fetched, but then that is the beauty of fiction, I suppose.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Pace could have been quicker, a lot of the story is at a somewhat sedentary pace. Also confusing trying to keep track of who's who. As another reviewer stated, it is difficult to feel too much for Stevie, the main protagonist, as she seems perpetually angry.
Which character – as performed by Anne Wittman – was your favourite?
Read well, good performance that is easy to listen to.

Clay and Stevie - at last some resolution!
As with all Karen Rose books there is a love story running parallel to a criminal investigation. In this case, the tracking down of a number of 'dirty' cops.
I would suggest that this book is read in the correct order of the Baltimore series (You Belong To Me, No One Left to Tell, Did you Miss me? are the previous books to this one) as all the characters are developed over the events in previous books.
I love Karen Rose and this book is up there with the best.

Can't finish this book
What did you like best about Watch Your Back? What did you like least?
Having read and enjoyed other Karen Rose books I was looking forward to this one but the narrator completely put me off wanting to listen to her voice anymore and I can't bring myself to go any further than chapter 7.
Would you be willing to try another book from Karen Rose? Why or why not?
Yes but not with this narrator
Would you be willing to try another one of Anne Wittman’s performances?
No

Can't finish this book.
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Stevie, the principle figure, is the most unsympathetic person I have read about. She is always 'furious', 'angry' and speaks to others without respect. Her 'relationship' with Clay makes him seem a total fool. A lot of people have died because of Stevie, yet everyone falls over themselves to look after and protect her and her daughter. I found myself feeling downright hostile to the character even though she has gone through several near misses herself. I kept wondering why her would-be assassins were such terrible shots give me a weapon I would have done the job myself!I only managed probably less than half the book before ditching it. I think I gave it my best shot (no pun intended) but I had no empathy with any of the characters. I don't know the final outcome - but neither do I care, sorry.
What could Karen Rose have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Reduce it by two thirds.
Would you be willing to try another one of Anne Wittman’s performances?
The narrator was good considering what she had to work with.
Did Watch Your Back inspire you to do anything?
Yes, be more cautious about the audiobooks I buy. I wish I could return it.
Any additional comments?
I think I have said enough.
