About this listen

Medical student Amy Brenner is spending the night on a locked psychiatric ward.

Amy has been dreading her evening working on Ward D, the hospital’s inpatient mental health unit. There are very specific reasons why she never wanted to do this required overnight rotation. Reasons nobody can ever find out.

And as the hours tick by, Amy grows increasingly convinced something terrible is happening within these tightly secured walls. When patients and staff start to vanish without a trace, it becomes clear that everyone on the unit is in grave danger.

Amy’s worst nightmare was spending the night on Ward D.

And now she might never escape.

Not my favourite of Friedas

Quite predictable and very unbelievable story. Narration not the best. Felt a bit whiney.
That said, still like this author's books, this is just not her best in my humble opinion.

good listen

Its a good listen. It is quite a linear story but nice, although at times I was waiting for the hours to count down.

Scooby Doo for grown ups

This story is so painful and predictable.
Worse still it demonises people with mental health issues.

Generally good

Quick read that kept me engaged. I've read most of Frieda"s books thus far and within this book I noticed less repetition of certain aspects of the story. I must commend her on this as this was one of my main issues with her writing style. The narrator was excellent, as always with this particular narrator. However, in terms of improvement I felt like it took quite a while for the story to feel like a thriller. There were twists as usual but not as shocking compared to some of her prior books.

Good story but didn't grip me

First read (or listen) from this author so didn't really know what to expect, it was a decent enough story, interesting characters & a good plot twist but I wasn't gripped. However, was also my 1st audio book experience so maybe that was a contributing factor.

Not for me

It was far too Jackanory for me. It was just totally unbelievable. I listened to the end but wish I hadn’t. I was waiting fur a sensible explanation but it was just too far fetched. Narration was very good.

Fantastic Story Telling

I really enjoyed this book. It’s pulled me out of a reading slump. Fast paced and never a dull moment.
