About this listen

Winner of the Young Adult Sci-fi category, Readers' Favorite Book Awards - 2018

To them, he was an experiment. To me, he is family.

The first time I saw him, I had no idea he had recently escaped from a mysterious lab. That he had been created there. I'd been living on the streets, which was tough, but preferable to home. Then one day, I stumbled upon this mangy dog being attacked.

I saved him. But then he saved me and I realized that Muttface wasn't a normal dog. He was crazy intelligent. I'm talking Mensa levels.

When we sought help from a grieving veterinarian named Sully, his clinic was attacked and destroyed by mercenaries. So now here we are, the three of us. On the run across the country against a powerful enemy. Who are they and what do they want with us?

Through the danger, terror, and pain, one thing was becoming clear to me: I have finally found the family I always wanted and I will do anything to keep them safe....

Even if it means risking my own life.

*The award-winning creator & screenwriter of ground-breaking BBC television show, Spirit Warriors starring Jessica Henwick (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Game of Thrones, The Defenders) brings you an action-packed thrill-ride in her debut novel fans unanimously raved about, describing it as a "Must-Read" and "Unputdownable". If you loved Dean Koontz's Watchers, Marvel movie Logan, Maximum Ride, and stories about dogs, you will love The Chase Ryder Series.*

A wonderful book for all ages. Highly recommend!

Any additional comments?

I'm quite a bit older than the usual YA audience but I found this audiobook just delightful! Wonderful characters that you fall in love with and a story that had me at the edge of my seat. Chase, Sully and Bandit tore at my heart and I found myself desperately hoping that they would find the happy ending they so deserved. This was a very original story about a relationship I don't often see and I loved every second of it. The narration was superb too. I've never heard of this author before but I will be reading her other work for sure.

Touching Tale

This is the first in the Chase Ryder series and is surprisingly well coordinated in terms of character development, emotional suspense and reader appeal.
Bandit is exceptionally realistic and Chase is the typical street smart teen with a chip on her shoulder and an untrusting attitude to match.
More for the burgeoning YA market i feel but can easily be enjoyed by adults a there is a lot of depth to the interactions between the 3 main characters.
Narration from Heather Masters in one word is masterful ,with good range for the male characters and she suits the Chase character well. I expect to hear more from this narrator.
Only spoil i think is at some small points the story becomes a bit stretched as to how they evade capture especially towards the end.
I wouldnt discount this series due to this as its not far away from a 4.5 such is the authors skill in binging the attention of the listener.
This audio was gifted to me and i chose to leave an honest review and as such is my own opinion.

Only fools play the 'What if?' game.

A quick act of kindness by a troubled homeless girl is the introduction of Chase to the remarkable dog who will become more than a friend, he'll bring her the sense of family. Written in a mix of first and third person, this delightful S.F.thriller adventure had warmth, excitement and raises some issues to ponder, not least those of identity and relationships. The story is a quick and easy read with some emotional highlights and is suitable for all ages. And especially dog owners.

Narration by Heather Masters is good, her young sounding voice reflecting the sense of Chase herself and delivered with a great sense of timing, well intoned and clear. The text is clearly articulated and her performance also conveys the emotion inherent within it, nicely done.

I was fortunate in being freely gifted a complimentary copy of Wanted by the rights holder. Thank you. This was an enjoyable and imaginative story that Y.A.s especially should be able to relate to, but also recommended to oldsters like myself who still have that memory of the emotions of youth.

You will want this book.

Wow, this is the first book by this author that I have ready or listened to but if this book is any judge of the authors work then it won't be be the last. If fact as soon as I have finished writing this review I am off to see if there are anymore books in this series. Being a dog owner this hit so many heart strings for me and I did have a few tears but I still really enjoyed it. I liked the characters and the way they all bonded together, especially the dog. There was plenty of action, as they found ways to get out the different situations they found themselves in. The story is told from a number of the characters perspective and I thought that it really helped the story flow, as you knew why people were doing what they were doing.
I young runaway girl looking for food helps a starving dog and a strong bond is formed. But the dog is no ordinarily dog which becomes apparent when the dog saves the girls life and gets hurt in the process. Chase fearing she is going to lose her best friend she rushes him to a veterinarian clinic run by grieving widow Sully. After the operation Sully wants to learn more about the two strays that barged into his home and in doing so he makes a phone call that will change all three of there lives for ever. The dog seems to have escaped from a medical lab and his highly contagious. But if that is the case why do the men that have turned up to collect him look like soldiers and why are they carrying guns? The trio flee into the night, starting a big man hunt for them. Up against a rich, powerful and deadly foe can they stay one step ahead of the bad guys? One thing is for sure a young homeless girl might have a few tricks up her sleeve when it come to protecting her family.
I liked the narrator and thought she was a good choice for a teenage girl (the main character) and did well with the other characters too.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Really enjoyed listening to this

Wanted is about a girl living on the streets and a dog that finds her and the trouble that follows all because of the dog.
It’s a story about finding friendship, family and reconnecting..

Jo Ho wrote a really good book which I loved reading and I thought the Audible would be a good listen also, it did not disappoint.
Heather Masters did a really great job narrating this book, there was only a subtle difference between the voices but you could definitely tell who was who.
A definite must listen.

A great story, awesomely narrated!

This book really has it all - love, loss, hate, friendship, family, action, adventure, fight scenes, calm bits. It really keeps you hooked from beginning, through all the twists and turns, to the very end. And, if you listen to the audiobook like I did, you also get an awesome narrator, who really brings the story to life, even having recognisably different voices for every different characters! I absolutely loved this book, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes adventure stories, from young adults upwards.
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

An exciting adventure with genuine warmth

Listening to this audiobook took me back to the movies I loved as a kid, though Chase is certainly no Goonie; this is darker, more mature stuff. All the characters have experienced genuine trauma, and whilst on the run they find comfort in companionship. Who better to teach the power of friendship than a dog. This would make a great book to listen to on a road trip, hopefully there’ll be more to come in the series.
