About this listen

Sam Morpeth is left to fend for her younger sister when their mother goes to prison. But when a stranger begins to blackmail her online, she's drawn her into a trap she may not escape alive.

Reporter Jack Parlabane is indebted to a volatile source, and now that debt is being called in, it could cost him everything. Thrown together by a common enemy, Sam and Jack are about to discover they have more in common than they realise - and might be each other's only hope.

Want You Gone is the superb new psychological thriller in the best-selling Jack Parlabane series. Award-winning best seller Chris Brookmyre is at his best yet with this nail-biting story.

"Reminiscent of the best of Nordic Noir but with its own vivid landscape." (Renee Knight, author of Disclaimer)

Just brilliant!

Jack Parlabane is my hero! Another fabulously crafted story of his exploits into the world of industrial espionage and hacking and a plot with lots of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. Loved the dual story telling from the two key characters giving different perspectives as they work together to try and foil the plot. Cracking ending that left me wanting more Jack please!

Minus one star for the annoying child

Other than that, it's one of Brookmyre's better offerings since the switch from the hilarity of his early books.

Brilliant; best book yet

This book is extremely well written as always with lots of twists and some laugh out loud moments. I think it’s the best book in the series so far. I would definitely highly recommend!

Jack is back

Great story, Jack is back on form. I listened to another Brookmyre a while back and had to return it as it was so poor,so this was a welcome return.

I was rather anxious due to the content of the book about my online security. However it’s taught me to think before I click.

Angus King was a fabulous narrator and is Jack in my head but I was not impressed with Avita Jay. Her London black accent was comical and her Scottish was poor. Samantha’s voice was so downtrodden, it was hard to believe that she was a strong individual underneath it all.

Very enjoyable

I really liked this story when I first read it a few years ago and now I'm revisiting the Jack Parlabane stories on Audible I'm finding even more enjoyment thanks to the performance. I'm very pleased that they used both a male and female voice actor to bring this story to life given the story is a two header first person narrative as it makes it easy to follow the story.

A great rip roaring story that a fun to listen to. Twists and turns all the time.

The twin reader works really well and adds to the enjoyment of the work.
