Summary
From USA Today best-selling authors Xavier Neal comes a brand-new smoking-hot age-gap romance that you don't want to miss!
Waiting.
As in wey-ting.
As in a verb.
As in a synonym for anticipating.
As in the very thing I didn't realize I was doing for a man 10 years younger than me....

Tate & Harper
Waiting was my first Xavier Neal and even though the blurb left me intrigued and eager to listen, the actual audiobook left a lot to be desired.
The premises is good, older woman and younger man, taboo romance and all the societal expectations on both of them could be a very good theme for an amazing audiobook. However I didn’t feel like I was enjoying the plot or the story itself. The way they get together is slightly awkward and I’d say unrealistic. Their relationship is a bit weighted on her; His ego is way too big for someone that doesn’t want to do anything about his monetary woes.
Unfortunately I felt lost and easily distracted by other stuff while listening.
But on the other hand, I found the way the smex scenes were described very good and actually quite different to the normal adult books I’ve previously read.
The narrators were also new to me and I’d say they were part guilty of how much I felt dissatisfied with the book. They didn’t feel engaging enough to keep me listening.
I will give this author another try in a different book

Harper and Tate!
Harper believes that enough time has passed since her divorce and that she is ready for another relationship. When she arrives at her favorite restaurant for a date she never expected that the chemistry and connection she would feel would be with the waiter she has interacted with numerous times who is younger than she is.
Tate has had feelings for Harper since he first saw her, but he believes in family and marriage and wasn’t about to interfere with hers. Finding out that she is single he isn’t about to just let her walk out of her life. He is determined to show her that the age difference doesn’t matter, and he can give her the love and family she has always wanted.
Tate and Harper were so much fun between their witty interactions, the hot chemistry and his family and her friends were a great addition. I thought the narrators portrayed the feelings of the characters as well as the heat between them very well. 🎧 Pink Flamingo Productions

My Thoughts on Waiting
If you’re looking for an excellent younger man/older woman contemporary romance, then look no further. There was so much I liked about this story. Most of the characters, especially both the leading man and woman were very likable and easy for me to connect with. The storyline itself flowed easily. I’ll admit that in the first chapter or two I was wondering how much I’d like it. Only because the blurb doesn’t give a whole lot away and I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a slower paced story or not. But it very quickly picked up. Time passed by quickly, but not too quickly in the storyline. While I would definitely say the relationship progression between the two main characters was fast, it actually felt natural for the two of them. I loved their get-to-know-you moments both one on one and with family and friends. I liked that they had real life issues and conversations that came between them beyond just the age difference. And I in particular liked the fact that the leading lady had an interesting career, one that, if well researched by the author was something that I was interested in learning more about. And that she was completely self-sufficient. I also really liked the acknowledgment of the way some people can treat or think of people who work in service fields like restaurant workers, or things along those lines. They tend to be treated like they couldn’t do better when in fact, there are different reasons why people choose to work those types of jobs, and it’s not always out of desperation. It was just really well explained and really well handled in this book.
Another thing I loved was both narrators. There were so many accents and ethnicities that were addressed in this story, which was amazing, and both narrators did a really good job with the accents. The performance only heightened my enjoyment of the story itself. I cannot wait to see what more this author has in store for us readers and look forward to hearing more from these narrators.

waiting
I loved the dual narration of Charlie L. Wood and Christian Leatherman. Perfect
Even though Harper is very happy in her life, after her divorced, she is still friends with her ex. Tate has crushed on Harper since he first laid eyes on her, but she was married. Bur now when he sees Harper on a date and knows he should take his chance. Evan though the two of them hit it off, Harper first uses the age difference, to stop the relationship growing. Because she is but still doubts herself. Tate is young but wise beyond his years. He's funny and easy-going but also firm in what he wants in life.
This is a wonderful story

Reverse Age Gap Romance
Waiting by Xavier Neal is a reverse age gap romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Charlie L. Wood and Christian Leatherman.
I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Harper and Tate. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
Charlie and Christian did an amazing job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like reverse age gap romances or contemporary romances.
