Summary
What goes on inside a great narrator to make them great? This groundbreaking work answers this question by exploring the psychophysical aspect of voiceover. The listener is given a bird’s-eye view of the professional narrator’s mental, physical, and vocal ”machinery” as well as an in-depth look at the underlying currents that power it: energy, intention, emotion, connection, and flow. Ideal for all - from novice to seasoned voiceover pro - Voiceover Narration inspires the listener to gain a deeper understanding of the nuances of voiceover performance within each narration subgenre, including audiobooks, corporate films, documentaries, e-learning, and explainer videos. With wisdom, humor, and personal anecdotes, Dian Perry shares everything she has learned about narration from decades as a voice actor and teacher. Also included is a collection of sample narration text, performed by a variety of talented guest artists: Ana Clements, Mike Cooper, Brad Hyland, Sam Mowry, Bethan Dixon Bate, Rory Barnett, Stephane Cornicard, Jessica Maston, Marilena Gant, Kerry Hutchinson, and Leonie Schliesing.
Voiceover Narration is a much-needed handbook that guides voice actors in creating and delivering more intuitive voiceover performances.

Invaluable
As someone who is starting his journey in the world of voice narration I have found the advice and examples incredibly useful and fully intend to implement them into my work. It talks about things you wouldn’t think to ask such as pitfalls and studio etiquette and also covers a lot of basics which I have found invaluable to guide me. Thank you.

Thoroughly enjoying this excellent book!
You know you are really enjoying a book when you feel compelled to rewind a chapter just to make sure everything you have been told has properly sunk in! This is the case with this excellent book - and I'm not even a voice over artist! Dian Perry has a wonderful insight into her craft - but her words are applicable to many areas of life - from authenticity to connection, energy to intuition, this book has a philosophy all of it's own. Hearing by audio gives it a greater depth as the narrator / writer really comes into her own and her voice is mesmerising. I never thought I would read a book like this - but so glad I have - it's been a joy!

4th Dimension from the Paperback
I bought the paperback version first and although I knew what the book was about, I was surprised at how much more I learnt by hearing it as well as reading it.
The practice scripts especially stood out as these were brought to life by students' and colleagues' voices to be able to demonstrate how to read, as well as hear Dian's coaching style to bring out the emotion of the reading and connect with the listener.
Having listened to the audio book it has given me a fourth dimension from the paperback that I wasn't expecting!
