About this listen
Summer vacation isn’t all fun and hanging out when you’re a wizard-in-training. For partly reformed warlock Chance Fortunato, it’s even worse. In addition to the constant study and training, he has to prove he’s ready to be a full-fledged apprentice before he starts at the Franklin Academy. Plus, he’s beginning to think someone has it out for him.
If things weren’t bad enough with a snooty proctor monitoring his every move and demons trying to capture him, his father finally makes his first attempt to get his wayward son back under his control by trying to frame his mom. When the old man proves just how far he is willing to go with tragic results, Chance must make a desperate sacrifice-play to guarantee his freedom once and for all.

I'm hooked
Loved this book, as it shows the continued growth of the main characters. I'm starting the next book ASAP. Enter into a world that you'll never want to leave.

Loved it!
I’m a bit of a wrinkly! But I still liked this book. It’s aimed a teen market. A young apprentice in high school. But it’s OK. Not too much teenage angst. Good story right balance of magic demons and mages. And it was free … no complaints here.

I must have missed something
I felt like I missed something in between book 2 and 3, maybe a short story it bothered me at fist. But they only mention it in the begining an then later on there were caracters that appear I had no idea who were. Sho I got no info before they showed up. That got me frustrated. This book was not as good as book 1 and 2 but I feal like its more of a character build up story and an omen for books to come.

Continues to Impress
Chance and his continued defiance in the face of demons, demonic servants and arrogant wizards is always a pleasure to listen to. Admittedly he can be a little whiny at times and is definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed but as an MC I still like him.

Well Written
Very well done, recommended for both story and performance. World building is one of the greatest pros of the series.

genuinely like the characters but stuggles alot
After battering books 1, 2, 3 and 2 hours of 4 in 5 days the characters have grown on me. But this book / audio book, has been less engaging. it feels like the author didn't quite know where to turn with the story so dragged me at times kicking against the urge to quit the book.
There just feels like a lack of development in the plot or base characters. up to this point id support each book out right this one... id say listen or read if you're doing the series of books.

KAZ 🇬🇧😃 Umm 🤔
Although I'm enjoying the story but the character's are supposed to be 16 yr's old so why's there wayyy to much sexual tension & lust from Chance & his werewolf 🐺 girlfriend I mean C'MON this is for children apparently & I've never heard of any 16 yr old boy blubber so much is it's ridiculous really that's why I'd slap the crap out of him tell him to grow a damn backbone
