About this listen
Help a family member or save a stranger? In Whispering Pines, Halloween horrors involve more than goblins and ghouls.
With only a smattering of tourists visiting the village for the Samhain feast, Jayne is excited. No. She's looking forward to... no. Jayne is guardedly optimistic about spending a few days with her demanding sister. Then, a boy goes missing during trick-or-treating, and everything changes. The parents aren’t worried. Their son does this, they say.
With a storm bearing down on the village, however, Jayne isn’t content to dismiss this as a case of a curious kid off exploring the woods. Organizing a search-and-rescue mission gives her plenty to deal with, but then the word "kidnapped" is mentioned and brings her sister’s long-buried nightmare into the light, forcing Jayne to divide her attention at the worst possible time.

Don't keep this book a secret
I really enjoyed this book and definitely did not see the end coming. Talk about a twist in the series. I have listened to book five and now book six and think it is a series that I will have to get the rest of the books, the books are stand alone but I have enjoyed them so much that I will have to start at the beginning. The characters are likable and I like the small town community that is describe so well that you have no problem picturing. The mystery is good with a number of suspects that kept me guessing and hooked until the end.
Jayne with the tourist season slowing down she is looking forward to spending more time to reconnect with her sister but before that can happen a young boy staying at the bed and breakfast goes missing. His parent's are convinced that he is fine and as a wilderness expect refuse to set off an alarm. It is only after a number of hours and the threat of a storm that they allow Jayne to set up a search and rescue team. The father refuses Jayne's advice and goes it alone and it is not long before he misses a check in and the rest of the town start looking for two missing people. The storm isn't the only threat in Whispering Pines, bad fairies are running around the village, not to mention the scarecrow that is wearing the missing boys t-shirt. Jayne knows it is a bad case for her to be investigating especially with her sister visiting but Jayne has no choice lives are at stake and she can't make time for her until the missing is found. Then a body is found and things get a lot worse. Can Jayne find the missing , time for her sister and other guest's at the B&B?
I like Sandra Murphy as the narrator and think she goes along to making this great series even better. I would recommend this book and any book read by Sandra Murphy because if Sandra is reading it you know it is going to be good.
