Ostrá satira ukazuje na příkladu Mloků, že nelze kohokoli bezskrupulózně využívat, aniž by přišel zasloužený trest ohrožující existenci celého lidstva.

Zpočátku jsou Mloci roztomilí, dělníci – levná pracovní síla, která má za úkol za lidstvo udělat těžkou a nepříjemnou práci, kterou nechce nikdo dělat. Jenže i na ně platí okřídlené rčení, že jsou „dobří sluhové, ale zlí páni“. Roztomilí Mloci si totiž postupem času uvědomí, že mají také právo na svůj životní prostor a nekompromisně ho začnou po lidstvu vyžadovat… Válka s Mloky je jedna ze základních knih české literatury dvacátého století a povinná četba k maturitní zkoušce. Přináší ostrou satiru, která zpočátku zábavnou formou poukazuje na nešvar snažit se vydělat na všem, co slibuje zisk, i kdyby to s sebou mělo přinést zkázu.
