Summary

Not bad....but those accents!
The story was a bit different to the usual crime/psychological thriller books that have become so popular in recent years.
I confess to sometimes losing my way and had to rewind quite frequently - it felt like it jumped around quite a bit between past, present, imaginary and between characters.
The 'plot' was good - I write 'plot' as I didn't feel it was a plot in the usual sense of the word when it comes to this genre. The insight into a relative's state of mind after a loved one is murdered worked very well. I usually work out whodunnit (or at least have a strong suspicion) but didn't in this story.
The narrator did ok - but the accents were dodgy to say the least, I'm talking laugh out loud dodgy! She just about got away with the Scottish (I'm being pretty generous here)... but the least said about the Australian/Welsh/Geordie/Irish character the better!

Haunting and beautifully written/narrated
I read this book when it first came out and as I had loved it so much, i really wanted to listen to a narration- I was not disappointed. Sufficient time had elapsed that I had forgotten some of the key parts and to have it come back to life for me with Emma Powell's silky voice was heaven. I'm originally from Yorkshire and her accent in those parts was accurate. Loved everything and highly recommend!!!
