Felt like trudging through syllabus book at times

It seemed like an exciting premise but although it was only 9 hrs and 31 minutes it felt at times more like 90 hours and 39 minutes and I never reached the finish line.
Narration was fine but at times it just felt like trudging through required reading.
I guessed a few of the plot twists - I really am truly amazed that it was not a longer book as it really did seem to drag and drag.
The protagonist did not appeal to me much as a bit feeble and I did not really buy the baddie who was a bit overblown and cartoonish.
The policewoman's role in it all seemed completely unlikely to the point of ridiculousness and added to the whole immaturity and preposterousness of it all.
I also was not much of a fan of the adult parts of the book - although they were not detailed the vague sketch of them conjured up most unpleasant visions.
In all I think this could have made a short story but as a thriller it fell short of the mark.
At times it was easy listening, at times cringy, at times too far fetched - I do not know what happened at the end as my interest petered out long before.
Overall it was just terribly bland throughout to the point I really did not have any interest in finding out what happened next or even who dunnit or why.
I admit I do usually listen to audiobooks written by women say 80% of the time and this is the reason why, it was all a bit Boy's Own with a rather dull character suddenly trying to be a cross between Sherlock Holmes and James Bond with women lacking much depth of character.
Sad to say I will not be risking a credit with another Robert Gold book.

Good who dunnit

The reading of this book was very good with different voices and a good pace. This didn’t stop me from getting a bit lost with whom did what to whom and the twist at the end wasn’t that surprising. A good who dunnit which was well woven.

Pretty Good

I enjoyed this story. It’s a bit confusing because there are similar characters but it’s not too complex and moves at a good pace. Would recommend if you like murder mystery that’s not gory or full of espionage :)

I’d rate better than my contemporaries

Well reviews bit luke warm, I’d say I thought it did well in realistic characterisation and complexity of story and held me without a wanting to swear at the writer
So all in all worth a try !!
