About this listen
Parading for Mardi Gras is no party....
When PI Franki Amato was invited to watch her 60-something landlady, Glenda, compete at the French Quarter’s annual kickoff to Mardi Gras weekend, she had reservations. After all, the event is called the Greasing of the Poles, and Glenda is an ex-stripper. But she never expected the fun event to turn her world upside down—and, literally, the victim’s. Now instead of hunting for a wedding venue with her honey, Franki’s hunting for a killer. The trail seems to lead to the wealthy board of the Krewe of Clotho, a carnival organization of women whose character is nowhere near as impeccable as their blonde hair, tan outfits, and old New Orleans ancestry. As members begin dropping like beads from Bourbon Street balconies, Franki has to crack clues as murky as the krewe’s signature milk punch brunch drink. Otherwise, this Mardi Gras parade could be her last.

So much fun!
This book is so much fun! I loved the story, the wonderful characters, the hilarious situations, the vivid descriptions and the twists and turns, but most of all I loved the brilliant narration by Madeline Mrozek and the Blooper Reel!
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

Party time!!! Like only Franki can. Well okay she was too busy trying to solve multiple murders while everybody around her was partying and I just loved it, come and join the fun and laughter. I really enjoyed the kindle version and before I finished reading I just knew I would be adding it to my audio book collection. Woohoo glad I did because it was a blast, there is something about a good narrator reading a story that just makes the story come alive so much more than with you reading it.
New Orleans and in particular Mardi Gras is such a bright and colourful experience, one that with this book you get to enjoy in the comfort of your own chair and without the crowds or possible death, unless of course you laugh too loud., which is a possibility. The author paints a very vivid picture with not only the characters but also the bizarre and unique costumes used in the parade. I just love the variety of characters that go into making this story so entertaining and the situations they find themselves in. The mystery was good and with so much going on it just flew by like a parade float going by, well okay like a supped up toilet (you have to read it to find out what I mean). There was a lot of history that didn't mean anything to me but it was interesting enough that it had me looking a few things up on the internet to see what they were. One of my favourite authors and I can't wait for the next adventure err....case.
A misunderstanding has Franki Amato attending the greasing of the pole to watch her ex stripper landlady compete in the competition, only to watch a murder happen. The prime suspects hires Franki to find out who is framing her, when the killer was discovered to have worn one of her unique wigs. The clues lead her to go undercover at the Krewe of Clotho as the floats founding members seem to be involved,. That is until someone starts killing them off one by one. Can Franki find the killer with help from some very unlike people which include ex stripers, drag queen and little Italian ladies or will Mardi Gras be the death of her or her marriage plans?
The narrator did a good job with this story and you really get a sense of being in the thick of the action with Franki and the crazy gang.
