About this listen

If love at first sight is a fantasy, why does what they have feel so right?

For the past few years Otto Proulx has been hiding in the shadows, living vicariously through others. Maybe it’s time for a change?

Greg Trainor runs a kite shop and helps his friends out when they need it; that’s the kind of guy he is. When he sees a car stuck on the side of the road he stops to help, never expecting to see the stranger again.

One night of passion leads to...several more, and suddenly both men are searching around to define what they have together. Neither wants to scare the other off and neither wants to ask for more.

Otto's out of his comfort zone and Greg has family issues; but love has its own rules and sometimes you just have to trust it will find a way.

Trusting the Elements is a dual POV about a light-hearted man who’s lost his bounce, and a caring, sexy, big-hearted man who doesn’t know his own worth. Trusting the Elements is the first in the Never Too Late series. It's never too late to find love.

Love the story!

I really enjoyed the story, I love the characters, especially Otto and Blaine :) They are such lively characters!
Greg rescues Otto from a minor car accident, but they go their separate ways, only to meet again at the local pub. Sparks fly between them and they spend the night together, just a hookup, right? 4 days later, it's very clear that this is no ordinary hookup, however they both have baggage and insecurities that prevent them from taking the next step.
Luckily both men have very sensible friends who give them the nudge/shove needed to take the next steps.

Steve Balderson is new to me. He is good with the character voices, including Otto's liveliness and sass; Blaine's quirkiness and Greg's tone. On the non-narration parts he sounded a bit stilted and uninspired. It wasn't bad, just noticeable when compared to the character voices. Since this is a such a great story, it's still a good way to experience the book.
Would I listen to him again? Yes :)

Sweet story

Saved by an angel (or more rescued by a gorgeous man) on a really bad day. There is where this story about Greg and Otto begins.
Both have background stories that needs to be delt with but as soon as they got eachother they can handle it together.

Personally I would have liked a little more depth to their backgrounds and how that effect their daily life but it is a sweet story. An easy listening!

I absolutely love this book. The characters were so very well developed for each other and I love that the characters had to work for their love. There were so many ups and downs and twists. This book is definitely one to remember

l really enjoyed listening to this story. There was angst, lust, friendship, pets, kids and everything to make a well rounded story.

Thrill, lust & love! Enjoyoable!

Thrill, lust & love! What an adventure!

Sometimes what you need and aren't looking for finds you anyway and it's even better than you imagined! This is how I felt about Otto & Greg's story. They find each other at the perfect time and while there's a lot of steam, a good amount of angst and a far bit left unsaid they have a connection that draws you in and keeps you wrapped up in their lives for the whole ride!

With an ex determined to cause trouble Otto and Greg must fight for what they want and admit their feelings for each other. I loved the small-town elements and deep issues addressed in this book. My heart broke along with the characters but also healed and fell in love too. A truly enjoyable read/listen by Elle!

Now I did have a few notes on narration. This narrator is new to me and he did a really good job with the character voices, including Otto's adorable sass and excelled at the personalities of the side characters such as Blaine but I felt the overall narration was a bit dry and uninspired, an unenthusiastic read along. It wasn't bad, just noticeable when compared to the inflections of the character voices. I think this might be a case of the story carrying the narration since this is such a great story. I understand narrators are all different, would I listen to him again? Yes I would, it was just a weird contrast to listen too.

Thanks for reading!

No character chemistry, bad narration

This story just didn't engage me. The characters lacked chemistry, imo. They had sex right off, so there was no sexual tension at all.

The narrator is stiff and over enunciates the story (non-dialogue). It was like listening to a robotic voice. The dialogue parts were better, but it made it really difficult for me to enjoy the story.
